Jay's Nyam & Jam is a Jamaican eatery across the street from Findlay Marketplace. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Guests have enjoyed singing hymns with the staff. The restaurant offers outdoor tables and is a nice location to get to while downtown.
The menu includes beef patties in spicy and mild versions, with a noticeable spice difference, and both are good. The jerk chicken dip comes with plantain chips and is great. The Jerk Lemon Pepper wing dinner comes with sweet potato fries and cabbage. The Rasta pasta with chicken is very spicy but very flavorful, and the Rasta pasta with oxtails is scrumptious, nicely seasoned, with perfect pasta and tender tails. The coconut rice and peas with chicken is delicious and super flavorful. The Jerk Chicken Quesadilla has very tender chicken in a slightly spicy sauce and is yummy, especially dipped in jerk sauce. The quesadilla is a starter, so expect large amounts of flavor and soul rather than large portions. Jamaican sodas pair well with the food. The prices are worth it and don't break the bank. Visitors would definitely be back.
