They must've been having a bad day this day. I'm sure, by the way the older gentleman talked and interacted with guests, they probably are very attentive. Maybe, because we were new there, that's why we didn't get as much attentive service. I refrain from details. I'm sure they would remember us, if we ever decided to dine there again. We were seated quickly though. The food was cold, but good. So, that's the plus side. I will say this, if our waitress paid as much attention to her service to us as she did when she thought we didn't pay, and ran out after us yelling, "hey! you didn't pay", her tip would have been better. We actually debated on her tip because my company felt like she did not want to serve us. Looking back, yes, now I agree with them. I do not need to go into detail it would take too long. This is long enough.

We were a large party of 16 ppl and our waiter worked alone. She should be commended for keeping her cool, no mistakes and was so pleasant. The food was fantastic but took FOREVER to get to our table (at least 1 hour). Still a great restaurant but be prepared to

Food was pretty okay, could definitely tell it was German. Hoooowever, I'm not sure if we came on a bad day, but we ended up waiting 2.5 hours to get our food, and it was cold. We had to go up and ask the front bar 4 times before we finally got a waiter to come out and get our orders. The outside garden is kinda cool, but overall it was a pretty terrible experience. I would go again, but only if I knew I was going to get served in a reasonable amount of time.

We came here about 7 years ago for the New Year’s buffet and it was divine. Came back today 7/22 and it’s a shell of what it used to be. Hostess said there was a 40 minute wait despite empty tables everywhere (5:45p on a Saturday night). We were seated in a booth by the main entrance and NOBODY ever approached us after the hostess brought our waters. We overheard other tables being told half the food they ordered was out or no longer available. I drank my liter of Dunkle that I went up and got myself and we left… cannot stress enough how great this establishment used to be and how terrible they are being run now. ?

Over all a good experience. Food was good. Service was good. And the atmosphere was fine. It was a little pricey for what you get. But still a good place to stop for some German based food.

We are from out of town and have been to this restaurant many times. I wanted to share the experience of this legendary place with my family . What a shock when we arrived to find the place empty on a Friday night entrance and outside eating area very dirty and once we got inside it only got worse. Everything was very dirty tables were sticky. Waitress had no idea about the various beers and gave us a tattered piece of paper with the beer names hand written on it. The menu had very little traditional German food as in the past. We ordered grilled chicken sandwiches undercooked and minuscule Veggie burger. That made my daughter-in-law vomit and a Reuben with soaking wet soggy bread. Most disgusting food I have ever seen. No one ate. All were very very disappointedThe manager comped our meals and apologized for the mess they are in.My advice to the ownersDon’t drag this place with such a respected and rich history down any further. Close the doors. Let her die with dignity and pride and we can all have our memories of how it used to be

There was a time that this restaurant was awesome. German beers, schnitzels, amazing cabbage...but this is today and the experience is, at best, marginal. I hate to review this restaurant as such as I want it to succeed, but the menu is an eviscerated shell of its former self. Our server was kind of indifferent to almost everything. We asked for a couple of different beers--both of which were out--to which she said, "we're all out" and then handed us a hand written note of what was available. The place's ambiance is still on point, a vestige of a time when service was valued, but it adds a depressive air to it all. You're eating in the ruins of Ancient Rome. At one time, this place was amazing but now we are in the dark ages. I imagine it's just a post-COVID thing but it's very sad for a Cincinnati staple since the 1880s. Oh how I long for the past. Eat at your own risk. :( Auf Wiedersehen , old Mecklenberg.

Saturday Morning Mustard Club, 2nd Saturday every month, has a great German food buffet including goetta sausage which is my favorite. Can't beat the atmosphere too. Beautiful outdoor garden seating area.

Absolutely fantastic! Try the Mecklenburg pie with the Weizendoppelbock...an amazing pairing. Nick was fantastic as our server. We will definitely return.

We were looking for a unique place to eat while in Cincinnati and found this place. It has an old world charm, very good service and the food was very good. I didn't give the food a 5 because the food wasn't great but still very good. My husband and I both had the schnitzel($23),we both thought it was a little overcooked but the sauce was great and my kids thoroughly enjoyed their meals. It had some good very beer choices also.Vegetarian options: My daughter is a pescatarian and had three to four options to choose from.

A real German restaurant. ? With real Germans. And real German food. Don't forget the real German beer. Schnitzel was excellent. The goulash was even better. The old photos and the old features of the dining area just enhanced the entire experience.

Had a great experience for an early dinner with my wife. Got the pork schnitzel with artichoke caper sauce. Spaetzel was slightly seared and buttery, rubykraut had a great tang. Service was fast and lighthearted & personable. Food came fast and hot. Loved this old world German experience and Dunkelweisen at Mecklenberger Gardens, which has been open since the Civil War!

We tried to go to watch the FCC game. I checked the webpage and it recommends a reservation for parties of 6 or more. We got to the restaurant at 8:30. Inside was a pretty empty and the outside was half full. When we ask for a table we were told that they are not taking any guest and they don't have enough foods. Mecklenburg name fits the vibe of eastern Germany 30 years ago! (They did not have any food either)

After reading some reviews and the looking over the menu Me and My girlfriend decided to try it. The pretzel was really good along with the 2 burgers. One was meat and the other was veggie. The garlic sauce brought more flavor to the burgers, but the mustard that came with the pretzel was combined on to the burger. This place has wonder flavors and knows how to cook a good burger. If anything I recommend sitting outdoors on a good day. The birds were spectacular and the vines add to the atmosphere of the place. Would go back.

Food and beer are really great; I love the sauerkraut balls, and the fish & chips are fantastic. Honestly though, my favorite thing about this place is the people; I sat at the bar this evening and barely glanced at my book because someone on staff was always checking on me and keeping me laughing. Shootout in particular to Tamiko! Thank you to everyone for being so welcoming!
