Velvet Smoke BBQ - Catering & Carry Out

Love the food very good. Macaroni and cheese needed some work. But the chicken wings and the brisket sandwich was delicious.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. And when I found velvet smoke,
I did get lucky. The brisket is Good enough to be featured in Texas Monthly Barbecue Finder app. The only reason I went with four stars instead of five is that the brisket was a tiny bit dry but since I prefer lean over moist sometimes that happens. Cheesy potatoes were OK. Baked bean were a little more vinegary that I like, but I’ve mixed in some of the barbecue sauce and they toned down. To their credit, the beans were not cooked down to mush. Still had some texture.
Compliments to the Pitmaster. Wanted to try the Burnt ends, but unfortunately, they were sold out.

Don't get me wrong, Velvet smoke has top-notch BBQ, but the over the phone service, taking to-go orders are horrible. Since they're only open 4 days a week, 3 hours a day, I mostly call in a order in between those hours, which is a very short window, and every time I've placed an over the phone to go order, the service has always been horrible. I'm sure since they are a quality barbecue restaurant They won't be missing my business, but I take over the phone service just as serious as in person service and I won't be patronizing this business anymore.

We had Velvet Smoke BBQ cater our pastor's 25th church anniversary on 03/30/25, and they absolutely delivered! From the pulled pork and chopped chicken to the mac-n-cheese, loaded potatoes, brioche buns, and an incredible variety of BBQ sauces—everything was phenomenal. We had a meal catered for 165 people, and all we heard were raves about the food—not a single complaint. Andi was fantastic throughout the entire process, keeping communication clear and making sure everything went smoothly. We'll definitely be recommending Velvet Smoke to everyone and will absolutely be using them again. Thank you for making our event unforgettable!

Super good. Only real complaints is that the brisket was kinda fatty and those hours are really limiting. Got a pound of brisket and a pound of pulled pork. Ordered it on Superbowl day, got my order within 4 minutes even though they were packed. Proceeded to spread the meat out through the course of a week, doing sandwiches with it. Good stuff, looking to come back soon.

Simply because of how delicious the food is, I will give them five stars on everything but honestly with how the hours are it’s so hard to get food there for me and I live down the street. However, I do understand how long it takes to smoke meats and what not so I keep on coming back and have recommended it to many others over the years !!

I’m from South Ga. We smoke hog in the ground. I’m funny when it comes to eating out but let me tell y’all something, these the best ribs I done had since I been up here I didn’t even need the sauce. Gone head and get you some you might have to lay down on em afterwards cause they gone make you want a nap. I highly recommend!

This place is great! We are from the Midwest region, and lived in the KC area for a while. This is closest we’ve come to true bbq in the area. Service is great and good value for the food! Make sure to double check their hours - they are limited!

Definitely the best kept secret that everyone should try!! Great people, great food!! Prices are a little low for the quality and quantity, I'd pay more, just saying....lol

I had a meeting with a customer and I agreed to bring in lunch. Andi made it very easy to stop by a pick up a ready to go lunch for about 15 people. It even included drinks! The food was delicious, so the customer was happy. I was happy to support a local business. It was a great experience and I will do it again!

Flavor was great, green beans a little over seasoned, Texas toast was like a thick slice of undercooked bread, portions was small for a judges platter, chicken wings had pink in them.
