We visited with some friends and had a great evening. Good food and service were great, menu was both unique and approachable. Bar service was great as well. We will return.

My wife says to me "don't be to hard on them. It's hard to get enough staff these days". So, for this reason, I will compromise with three stars. But I have to say, there were only three servers for the entire restaurant on a Friday night. Our server had 11 tables and she was scrambling like crazy to keep up. She poured our wine then left a $56.00 bottle of Rose on the table with no ice bucket. We had to ask, and she finally brought one 10 minutes later. We were seated at 7:38 for a 7:30 reservation and did not order our food until 8:20. We had the surf and turf tartare, which was very good, albeit a little vinegar forward. The crostini's accompanying the tartare were a little to thin to stand up the the weight of the tartar so they kept breaking. The carrot ginger soup was delicious! You could taste every ingredient...so well balanced. The halibut special on tomato risotto, with bites of perfectly cooked zucchini and summer squash, was lovely as well, however our server literally plopped the dish down and left our table with nothing said. We just looked at each other in astonishment. We have been to the old Table a few times, and wanted this experience to measure up to that, but disappointingly, it did not. The food quality is there though, so kudos to the kitchen! And we did tip our server beyond 20%.

We stumbled upon this little French bistro following an afternoon at the Cincinnati Art Museum, and we were so delighted! The service was excellent and the food was inspired and delicious. Perfect comfort French food - with a really cool view overlooking the Ohio river. I cannot wait to return to try a number of the other dishes on the menu.

We have been avid fans of all things Jean-Robert for decades now, his restaurants always being our go-to especially for special occasions. The Bar a Boeuf USED TO BE his restaurant we liked the least, mostly because it felt a bit neglected and the food and service were off. But, after closing a few of his spots, he has focused his energies (and his cooking talents) at Bar a Boeuf, and it is a whole new ballgame. The menu from the recently closed "Table" can be found here (much of it at least), and the food is superb. The servers work their hearts out to help make everything flow smoothly, and Marilou is as pleasant and personable as ever. This is our new favorite spot!

We had gone about 3 years ago and were not happy. This time was much different. Our favorite meal for some time was the weekday special at JR's Table, a beautifully prepared French meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Were very sad when this closed and Jean Robert became ill. A look at the menu shows it contained many favorite dishes from the table. We were then approached by Mary an ageless Filippina who has fronted his restaurants for decades. A bottle of Champagne started things nicely. The wine list is pared down from the Table but still works. I do remember eating a nicely cooked halibut, some shared mac and cheese and a creme brûlée and tasting some really good stuff from my companions. Unfortunately some of the best stuff was on an unpublished specials list which always seemed the same. It was nice to see JR himself emerge from the kitchen and take a bow. Perhaps this evening was just a one-off and my experience may have been enhanced as I hadn't been out to eat fo a year or so. Nevertheless it's a shame to see such a fine chef go and to read such savage reviews.

We are out of town visitors and local friends insisted on taking us to what they described as “the best restaurant in Cincinnati “, despite the fact they’d never been. I saw it’s dismal TA ranking and was not optimistic… The place itself is doddering on seedy and is run down. The hallway in - your first impression- is dirty and bedraggled. The current TA rating is well deserved. Calling themselves a “French “ restaurant is absurd. Only two items on the menu are even related to French cuisine. And Cod fish sandwich and a hamburger as entrees? Oh oui. Donc très français. And the food is just plain mediocre. Other than the passable French Onion Soup (seldom seen in France) the food was pedestrian bad. And on a Saturday night when every good restaurant in town was fully booked, this place was three quarters empty. ABV sums it up: Appallingly Bad Value.
