Spillway Lodge Reviews
Great atmosphere, great food, near Cowan lake
Only things that has changed in 50 years are the prices. Great steaks.
The Atmosphere & Location is most definitely deserving of 5 Stars. The friendliness of the staff is also 4 - 5 Stars. However, the meal (beef fajitas) that I ordered was lacking in comparison to other places that I’ve eaten the same item at, and in my opinion deserves 3 Stars.
The location is out in the middle of nowhere (5 miles from the nearest small town) with absolutely beautiful scenery of vast acres of trees and farmland.
The service was great!

Spillway Lodge is a cozy restaurant located off the beaten path, offering a warm and rustic atmosphere with wood beams and a fireplace. The homemade pie and fried shrimp remain fantastic, and the salad bar provides a good selection of fresh options, though some items might be a bit overcooked. The seafood dishes like Tilapia and Shrimp Scampi are outstanding, with generous portions and tasty flavors, often enhanced by a bourbon glaze that adds a nice twist. The shrimp trio and different cuts of steak are also delicious, and the fried mozzarella cheese sticks are a popular appetizer. The restaurant is known for its friendly and attentive service, making the dining experience enjoyable. Guests can enjoy a view of the spillway while savoring their meals. Recent visits have seen some issues, such as long wait times for food, inconsistent meat doneness—like undercooked steak or overcooked pork chop—and limited service for large groups, which has affected overall satisfaction. Despite these occasional setbacks, Spillway Lodge remains a recommended spot for a delicious meal in a cozy setting.
