Excellent food, quick and responsive wait staff. Would have given a five star rating but they were out of the lunch special at 12:25. Was kind of looking forward to the Cuban sandwich but guess I'll have to wait for another time.

Hey. Sorry. Swing and a miss strike three. I had the "house battered" Lenten haddock. SO soggy. Maybe bump up the oil temp chef? Here it's been a disappointment after disappointment after well you get the idea. Food is meh and pricey. Time to migrate.

Good food, good dishes, good ambiance. There're Brussels sprouts are delicious. (Not the side, the special order option).

Went there with a friend on March 9th and I ordered the mozzarella balls which were good but very overly priced and my friend ordered a pizza that she said was delicious. I placed a to go order on March 13th for pick up. Ordered the Margaretta pizza and added sausage, and when I got it home the bottom we scorched black and not editable! And you couldn't find the sausage that they charged $2.00 for. So the bottom line is when you want pizza stick with your traditional pizza restaurant's that specialize and know how to make a pizza and don't waste $17.00 on something that is a waste of money!

Started with the thai cauliflower which was so so good. Not spicy but flavorful and perfectly crispy. Cheese pizza had good quality cheese and a great flavor to the sauce. The Philly sandwich was good but nothing spectacular and had a spicy sauce on it just FYI. A few chewy pieces as well. Service was meh but got the job done. Nice decor. Definitely a bit over priced.

Nice decor, varied menu with fun entrees. Great dining room and art. Incredible metalwork globe is an eye catcher. Ordered salads and hot teas for our lunches. Tea selection was all caffeinated, and I asked for decaf or herbal, but waitress admitted selection needed to be replenished. And, please: Whatever happened to people WASHING lettuce and serving it cold? Our crispy Cobb salad toppings were tasty, but the limp frisée greens underneath them were NOT at all enticing. Excellent homemade ranch dressing, but where was the blue cheese and avocado and tomato that makes a Cobb Salad a Cobb Salad? The waitress was attentive but interrupted conversation every single time she approached the table. No pause by the table in a moment's silence so we could stop our conversation to give her our attention. She just blurted out words as she came in fast. The place was not busy, so she didn't need to rush to communicate. So, I give mixed reviews--and the labor is responsible for my negative comments: wash the lettuce, replenish the tea selection, learn how to communicate at the tables. Labor, labor, labor!

Very good food and service for lunch. I had Banh Mi Bird and side salad. Everything fresh and very tasty. My friend had Pork Belly Tacos which she said were great. Good drinks from the bar. Waitress was friendly and attentive. All around great experience.

The food was great. 'Pewter Mug' salad was delicious. Reminded me of the original restaurant of that name. My family had the burger. The comment, unprompted, was it was the best she has had. Surprised from someone that's pretty quiet and tough to please. The service was good and ambience was fun. I'll definitely go back.

Visited this place at least 3 times, and the food is great here. I was recommended this place and I have to say, the food and pie are excellent. Service is lovely, they know how to look after you. Excellent food ( must try the chicken wings confit), great quality and safe, glad I went.

We ate a traditional pizza which was so delicious. It was thin and crispy. The waitress was also nice and helpful. Dim lighted, rustic atmosphere.

Wow this was so delicious! I had the French Kiss salad - I can't resist a salad with berries, goat cheese, and balsamic. It was really fresh and I added the grilled chicken. I was so impressed with the huge menu and many options for lunch. The hummus appetizer was huge and had tons of different veggies. Our waitress was super kind and helpful. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town.

If you're looking for classic but trendy American food in an upscale atmosphere, I highly recommend giving "56 Kitchen" a try. This is one of two locations in the greater Cleveland area. Their newer location is on Aurora Rd. in Solon and the one that I am reviewing is their original location roughly 10 miles north of there on the corner of Som Center Rd. and Mayfield Rd. in the Mayfield Heights neighborhood of Cleveland. It is located in a busy strip mall that neighbors a "Five Below", "Old Navy", and "Ulta Beauty". I arrived during the evening of Thursday 9/14/2023 at around 5:30pm and was looking for a filling meal to get me through the rest of the evening. The parking lot can get quite packed mainly due to the high amount of retail establishments and eateries in this area. After parking, I proceeded to enter and was immediately greeted and seated in less than 2 minutes. The interior layout had a rustic, industrial look to it complete with an interesting hanging chandelier ceiling display that resembles a globe figure. There was ample seating throughout, a dedicated bar, and even outdoor seating for the more comfortable days. Their menu had a modern yet extensive variety of options including quite a bit of appetizers including hummus, chicken wings, fried mozzarella, spinach artichoke dip, and much more. They also have about a dozen different salads , a dozen different sandwiches, and even 8 different pizzas to choose from. Their drink menu also offered quite a few choices including red/white wines by the glass or bottle, craft beers, and non-alcoholic options. I ended up going with one of their most popular options, the "Pick Your Plate" (priced in between $18-27). I chose the "Balsamic BBQ Grilled Chicken" with "Field Green Salad" and two sides of my choice; "Garlic Mashed Potatoes" and "Roasted Brussels Sprouts". Even though it was dinner and a packed house (for a Thursday evening), my plate arrived in roughly 10 minutes. My waitress, Shannon was also very accommodating by making sure my iced water was filled up. As far as the taste of the chicken, it was just okay for me; I really couldn't taste any balsamic flavor as the BBQ sauce overpowered everything else. However, the mashed potatoes were made perfect with the right amount of garlic. And my Brussels sprouts has a delicate roasted flavor with hints of garlic; very similar to the way my mom made them. All in all, "56 Kitchen" in Mayfield Heights is a decent above average restaurant that focuses more on healthy options. They have a very respectable vegan and gluten free alternatives to their pizzas. When you factor in the ambiance (which is lively and upscale), decent prices, above average service, and food that can be hit or miss depending on what to order, I am giving 56 Kitchen a respectable four-star rating.
