We had a comfortable stay at the hotel despite the heavy renovations. Most of the work was focused on the outside so, we had some trouble finding the parking or navigating around the construction awnings. The room was clean and with enough toiletries. Th window was facing an internal courtyard (that did not seem to be in use) so, nothing really to see. The internet was not as strong as hoped. We did not have breakfast at the hotel. We did have dinner as part of an event and found the food to be ok, but nothing to remember. Overall, good location if needing to stay in downtown Cleveland.

This place was horrible. Everything was crazy expensive. The food was lackluster. There was a bug on our plate and the “waitress” said oh gross. The room was tiny and it’s not like the room was cheap. The entire hotel is under construction.

While I understood from the time of my reservation that the hotel is undergoing a renovation, the prices I paid were out of line ($985 for three nights, including breakfast and baseball caps). My bad. At no time did we have housekeeping service. We left the hotel early each day and returned late each night. Three days we expected to return to fresh towels, emptied trash bins and a made bed. Instead, we returned each night to the "do not disturb" sign hanging from our doorknob. The first time I assumed I must have left it on. The second time, I purposely left the tag on the floor, inside the door. I returned to it hanging on the outside knob. My husband thought I must have made a mistake, so he put the tag inside the door on the third morning. Once again we returned to the tag on the doorknob. This means someone (housekeeping) went into our room, saw the tag and hung it in what I can only assume is an attempt to forgo doing any work in our room. So, for the entire stay - no housekeeping! In addition, the carpet in the room was endlessly stained to the point I did not want to take off my shoes. I did, however, appreciate that there was a full size closet, a large dresser, a mini fridge and a coffee pot. Again, the hotel is undergoing a renovation, but the before pictures show an elegant hotel from the street. I hope the renovation returns it to its original luster. The bright spot in our stay was Taja (sp?) who checked us in. Purely delightful. Friendly, knowledgeable, informative, great sense of humor. The breakfast that came with our package was more than expected. Depending on the day, we could order from the menu or dine with the nice breakfast buffet. Something for everyone. The wait staff, while very busy, was incredibly friendly and attentive. There is a lot to do within minutes from the hotel - 4th Street for food and fun, Progressive Field for Guardians games, Rocket Arena for basketball and concerts, JACK Casino. The Science Center, Browns Stadium and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are several block, but very walkable. The hotel has a great central location in downtown Cleveland. This was my first trip to Cleveland. I was amazed by how clean and safe I felt, compared to my home city of Seattle. I saw no tents, very little garbage, and we were never harassed on the street. There is a good police and security personnel presence downtown. Everyone was very friendly on our walks, no one was a j*** to us on the freeway and the fans at the Guardians game were so polite we even commented to several of them how much we liked our visit to such a friendly and welcoming city. Keep up the good work Cleveland!

I arrived April 6 and departed April 9th. I stayed in a queen room which was spotless. I had plenty of room in the dresser for my personal items. There were plenty of reasonable restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. . The hotel is located right downtown and was convenient to the interstate. I woul really enjoy staying there again on my next visit to Cleveland

Review Cleveland Renaissance I was attending a conference for my work. The Cleveland Renaissance was the location. I read reviews of the hotel on google and on TripAdvisor. After reading the reviews, I arrived with great trepidation. When I arrived, I was given a room on the 5th floor. I was surprised that the room was so cozy looking. It was nothing like the bloody sheets, and dirty rooms that people wrote about in the reviews. Still, as soon as I entered the room, I took apart the bedding, to make sure that the mattress was clean. To my surprise, my thorough check revealed beautifully kept soft mattresses and clean, fresh bedding. I am super sensitive to EMF, to mold, to cleaning liquid odors and so many allergens. However, I did not experience any negative smells, or sounds during my stay here. The cleaning staff came in every day. I have been to countless hotels for my work. I must say that I have never experienced such an excellent, thorough cleaning replenishing all of the soaps and shampoos and towels and glasses, and whatever else was in the room. They did that the first day and every day after. Thank you, Cynthia, the cleaning-team-leader/ trainer, for such a clean, refreshing experience. The best of any hotel ever! As I walked through the halls each day, I could not help but notice hotel workers cleaning, cleaning the hanging pictures in the hall, cleaning the floors, cleaning, and cleaning. Such hard workers. They seemed to take great pride in their work. I went downstairs to get a Lyft to drive me to purchase drinking water for my stay. But the driver went to the wrong place, and I ended up not having enough time to wait for him. Here I was, stuck with no water to drink. I went to the desk for ask for directions to a store that I could walk to for water. I was attending a conference for my work. The cleaning staff came in every day. They did not charge me for them either. Thank you Maria and Taja. I asked them also for a refrigerator in the room. By the time I got up to the room, the fridge was there, working beautifully for my whole stay. I felt cold in the room on the 3rd night. So, I called the desk asking if there is a way to turn on the heat. The person at the desk sent me the engineer. Tim, an engineer, came within minutes and explained to me that it is not the season to start the heat working. He was so cordial and willing to come in and fix something, that I no longer felt so cold, lol. And then I looked at the outdoor temperature and it was 80 degrees. So this was not a real problem. I must add that my Lyft driver back to the airport told me that the Cleveland Renaissance is her favorite hotel, and she comes here for special occasions. On top of that, the people who work the desk, Maria, Taja, and Laura were super responsive to my every request, be it water bottles, late checkout, directions to the different conference rooms, directions to a store, or info about the town. For the whole 5-day stay, I found a staff that really cares and gives it their all. All in all, I found the Cle

Lots of chandeliers in the lobby of an old building with long elevator wait times. The room was dated and very tight by modern standards. Towels were well worn. All the pillows were the same and not to my liking. Like most expensive hotels, there is no free breakfast. All in all, an extremely overpriced experience. I would not stay here except it is convenient to the Ohio to Erie bike trail and Amtrak station.

Stayed September 10, 2022. Pros: nice staff and and beautiful lobby, nice location by public square Cons: way overpriced hotel for what you get. We paid closed to $300/night. the rooms were so outdated. The toilets look like the old toilets you would see at a bus stop. No coffee machines, I have stayed at Motel 6's with a coffee machine over course no breakfast at all. Had water in the hotel of course for $6 a bottle. Come on Marriot this hotel is below your standards, will never stay there again. Hampton Inn or Drury Inn, much better deal and nicer hotels. you need your hotel key to get on the elevators OK I understand that security but you should not have to swipe when you are going down from your room...so irritating

Transformational customer experience every time my accommodations are at this wonderful hotel. Beautiful building located in the heart of Cleveland. Transportation to/from airport via RTD without touching the street using Tower City stop. Rooms are different sizes depending on your booking. Beautiful lobby but the BEST part of this hotel specially if you belong to their loyalty program Is the way they make you feel Location location location Add Best Guest relations Equals Happy traveler

Pros: Really good price, beautiful historic lobby, very friendly staff, convenient location, fairly clean room, quiet despite being in the heart of downtown. Cons: Tired and worn room decor, bathroom was dated and had an odd layout, proximity to bus station and casino means lots of loitering outside, self park was convenient but not directly connected to the hotel so a trip outside was required each time. Summary: This was fine for the night, but I would have been annoyed if I’d paid more than $189/ night. The lobby and entrance are grand and really lovely to look at. The hallways look like they’ve been updated recently, but that’s really the extent of it. The room furnishings were fine, but a little dated (not an issue), but the bed itself was lumpy and felt like it was 20 years old. The room smelled like weed spritzed with room spray. The bathroom was perfectly usable, but in need of a makeover, a good grout cleaning (not grout paint tisk tisk) and a fan to prevent the ceiling paint from peeling further. Self park is directly next to the hotel, but signs indicate you can enter through the ballroom level, which only leads to locked doors. We had to call the front desk to ask how to get in, and they explained we had to walk down a short construction tunnel to the front (which someone had freshly peed inside). No big deal (except the pee, yuck) but it would be nice to have signage directing guests. I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but if you’re looking for a budget friendly option for a night or two, you’ll be fine with this.

We had an unpleasant experience. The hotel is under renovation and NOISY. It is also in the heart of downtown which has its share of sketchy people loitering about, likely due to the nearby casino. When we checked in I asked for 2 room keys and the unpleasant front desk person said NO, we are low on keys. WHAT??? We were 2 people and needed the key not only for the room but to exit the overpriced (and very narrow) garage too. I explained this and the unpleasant front desk person responded in a stern and raised voice " I SAID NO, WE ARE LOW ON KEYS! YOU CAN CHECK BACK LATER IF YOU LIKE." What??? No offer to bring a second key to our room when they arrive, etc. Very unprofessional. We spoke to a supervisor and got another key. No apology or effort to "make it right." It gets worse. At check in we were given a sheet of paper announcing modified housekeeping practices at the hotel purportedly for "safety purposes." Want a change of sheets? Call and they'll bring up a set of sheets for YOU (the guest) to change! Want toiletries? Call and they'll bring it up. Housekeeping does refresh towels, so apparently "safety" is not an issue for them to come into the room for that. I also note I saw NO staff member wearing a mask, so Covid precautions/safety apparently aren't the real concern. I think the real concern is money savings. It is a ruse to save on housekeeping costs in the name of "safety." Shameful. Also. most nicer hotels offer ice water for guests in the lobby. Not here. Want water? Pay $6 a bottle for the water in your room. Bottom line, no effort was made to make the stay pleasant for guests. Stay away. There are many more choices. If going to the convention center--the Hilton is closer, as is the Marriott. Stay farther afield in a nicer neighborhood where parking is cheaper and just take a taxi /uber/lyft, if you need to be in the area.

You can tell that this was once a very beautiful hotel, but it has not been kept up. Furniture, carpet, etc. is all worn. Costumer service is awful. People at valet barely acknowledge you or yell at you. Staff at check in desk was far from courteous. Rooms were drab - we found lipstick on our telephone and I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn't have water bottles in the room. Bar service was poor. All around pretty awful. Thankfully we were only booked for one night - we couldn't wait to leave!

Overall, I have no complaints about my stay as MOST everyone and everything was very nice. A particular incident and person does need mentioned though. Check in is posted as 4:00 PM and I am fully aware of that, but we got there about 3:00 and our room wasn't ready yet so we went to the bar and were buying some very expensive drinks from some very nice bartenders. We were told it would be about 30 minutes, 3:30, before our room would be ready. At about 3:40 I walked over to the counter to see if our room was ready and I was told it was not yet by a very nice and polite young lady named Angelina I believe. I jokingly said to her that she was going to have to start covering my bar bill since we were stuck waiting there and she quickly and politely offered my a couple of free drink vouchers. I was elated and surprised as I was aware that I should not have expected our room prior to the 4:00 posted time. The problem began when an apparent manager named Jasmine butted in and rudely proclaimed that we were owed nothing as the room was not advertised to be ready prior to 4:00. I agree that we were owed nothing, but I feel it was extremely unprofessional to snag away something that was offered to me moments before by someone who obviously understood hospitality. And the way she said and did it was extremely rude and unprofessional.

I’ve got 1300 Marriott nights and this was the worst in the last 12 years. Homeless in the bar, poor security, no working room A/C, dilapidated rooms and meeting space, lousy food, staff smoking weed and much more. Sad, not reflective of the brand.
