If there was ever a case of looks being deceiving, it's Pupuseria Katerina. We came for a weeknight dinner and not only was the restaurant completely deserted, the building looked like it had been abandoned since the 70s. The interior had a little more charm, and several cosy nooks and snugs, though it was still a dive. But the real star here was the food. I'm still dreaming about the homemade crema and tangy fresh cheese - you could spread either of those on cardboard...
If you haven't had papusa, you have to give it a try. There's food for everyone, plenty of vegetarian options, too. It's slow food, so if you're in a hurry this isn't your quick lunch stop. Still, the food is worth it.
