I hadn’t been here for a while , i was driving by and thought to get some. Yes this is definitely not the original owner’s we had years ago. I wont be coming back. The chicken is somewhat still the same but the sides goodness gracious mash potatoes and mac are bad and i wondered why it was close to empty when i got there. Yeah nope not the same restaurant we once knew that was good
I weep for what it used to be and how far it has fallen.
They messed up my order IN MY FAVOR. The whole thigh was twice the amount it normally is and they made it spicier than it normally is (I asked for this part). And it was Tuesday to boot so my kid ate free. Great atmosphere with 70s music everyone can groove to.
Hot Chicken Takeover in Clintonville nails crispy, tasty chicken and cozy sides. Great neighborhood vibe, friendly staff—and don’t miss the fizzy drinks!
Super sad this place was bought out by greedy suits because it is no longer edible. They changed everything about the OG menu and all the ingredients have a significant lower quality now. It used to be worth the higher prices but now it’s just another KFC, Popeyes rip off and that’s not who you want to imitate.
Went there yesterday first time ever eating there. We thought this sauce may go with the fried pickles. The sauce smelled to have parmesean cheese. I am the only one who dipped something in this sauce and I'm the only one who is violently sick today. Idk what is in this but if anyone gets this in their bag don't eat it. Once again first time ever eating at a Hot Chicken Takeover so idk their sauces but this one is not it. If someone can tell me what it is that would be great, cannot find on the menu. That makes me nervous.
I have enjoyed Hot Chicken Takeover since their beginnings over ten years ago. Sadly, my experience today is a cautionary tale in what happens when you sell a business to a soulless corporation. The Mac and cheese was horrid, and the slaw is probably the worst I've ever had. Long John Silvers makes better slaw now. As for the chicken itself, it was bland, hardly seasoned, and the portions were skimpy. I want to be clear that the service was good, and I do not in any way fault the employees for this experience. This lays squarely at the feet of arrogant, greedy owners who refuse to listen to their customers, and who think that they can switch out cheap swill for the formerly high quality ingredients this place was known for. I honestly thought that all the negative reviews I saw here and elsewhere were excessive. They aren't. More people came in to use the bathroom at leave than bought food on a Tuesday night, so people are voting with their feet. If you loved the old HCT, avoid the new Hostile Chicken Takeover.
We mistakenly ordered the country fried steak on a day my wife wasn’t supposed to eat beef. The young lady working asked why we were ordering another entree’ and when we told her replaced the mistake we made on the house. Our food was served perfectly, exactly as we’d ordered, and she did it just to be nice. This is the latest example of why we come back whenever we’re in town.
Accidently ordered to the wrong location. The lady at the front made no fuss about it and immediately made my order there. Saved my day. Thank you so much.
I ordered on Doordash but was unable to leave a written review on the app. The chicken was drowinng in sauce and mostly breading, pretty inedible but at least it was as described. The kicker was they sent uncooked and semi-thawed fries in a takeout container. I won't be going back.

Overall 10 out of 10, if your ever in Columbus and strolling past north market be sure to stop in and try any of there chicken it is bomb.
Waste of $40. The sweet pickles are disgsuting and the chicken is super mild. Nothing beats Joella’s, sorry you Columbus people are stuck with this garbage.
Been waiting 30+ minutes on food. Kitchen is lost on what food to make. One worker punched the screen that has orders on it. Chicken bites are not edible. They are rocks. Chicken sandwich was half bread. Hush puppies were cold. Never would eat here again
