The BEST hibachi in all of Ohio (I have tried a bunch) the fried rice is always perfect, the New York strip and filet are both great, even the chicken is good not dry, love the bean sprouts, ginger salad dressing and yum yum

Had Randy as our chef and he was great! Took care of me, my husband, and mother in law. We’ve been going to house of Japan for years and love it.

Food was great. Service was good. Our table cook was meh. We preferred thry cook next to us. This place is expensive $600.00 for 9 with tip.

WOW… House of Japan near Polaris Mall in Columbus, Ohio was absolutely packed for Mother’s Day, but they still had us seated in about 30 minutes which was impressive with how busy they were.

The hibachi experience was phenomenal. Watching the chef cook everything fresh right in front of us made it a fun experience instead of just dinner. I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium and it came out perfect. Great food, great atmosphere, generous portions, and the staff kept things moving smoothly even with the crowd.

If you’re in the Columbus area and want a fun dinner spot, House of Japan at Polaris is definitely worth checking out.

It is probably the best you can get overall, no complaints at all, other than I wanted to go again the next day.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I’ve been going here for years and it’s always disorganized, but that does not impact the food as much. That’s why I keep coming back. However on May 9, 2026, I called at 1 PM if they were doing lunch specials due to the holiday weekend and I knew they weren’t doing it on actual Mother’s Day. The person on the phone said yes and then I asked do I need a reservation the person on the phone said no. I went to the restaurant at about 1:45. I get there and they say it’s a 30 minute wait I tell them that’s fine if we wait are we still able to get the lunch special? The person at the front went to go check with the manager then comes back and tells me “oh we’re actually not taking walk-ins”. I said “excuse me I called at 1 PM and you said you were taking walk-ins and I didn’t need a reservation” and she goes “well, we weren’t busy then”. I said “OK but I still called at 1 pm and you said I didn’t need a reservation even though I tried to make one” and she said “oh well sorry”.

Absolutely do not go to this place!

House of Japan is always fun. It's like going to the circus but with food.

Incredibly disappointing experience on all aspects. Food was overcooked and inedible. Chef was either training or just wasn’t paying attention. Service staff and management were rude. They’re currently undergoing renovations so there are no decorations anywhere, just a plain room, crowded as ever. Sad to see this place go downhill after coming for the past 10 years! Won’t be returning.

If I can give this location 0 stars I would. To start.. the service was awful, the server was in the back eating whole time I could see her chewing, only reason i noticed this is because we didnt have no server ever. She didnt give us what we ordered and I even pointed it out on the menu. The rice was hard, not seasoned at all, didn't portion it evenly. My meal was plain as hell. Do not go to this location.

It's not a bad place to get food, however I have had better experience with the one in Dublin. The service here is passable but not as professional as I'd like considering how much you pay. The food here is also passable. I wouldn't say it's the quality it's more the chef's they have cooking your food. My steak was overcooked even though I asked for it to be done and my fried rice was a little burnt..
