I stumbled upon [‘plas] on 5th Ave a few nights ago and WOW – this place is everything Columbus’s food scene deserves.
AESTHETIC: Tucked into what looks like a converted brick townhouse, this spot nails the effortless Brooklyn industrial-chic aesthetic without trying too hard. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with that perfect balance of exposed brick warmth and a modern feel that makes you want to linger. You also have options for interior or patio seating - both having their own, unique qualities.
FOOD: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The Food Game is STRONG. A large portion of the menu is made from scratch in-house, and you can taste the difference in every single bite. They offer seasonal menus and seem to have a lot of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free offerings. Fair Warning: this place uses spices. Not just “heat” but actual FLAVOR (think cumin, garam masala, and Cajun spices).
I had the Sea Bass and it was an absolute masterpiece: perfectly prepared, with sides that enhanced rather than competed. We also tried the Creole Tartare (tuna) and the Chef’s Charcuterie - everything had fresh, intense flavors that somehow never overwhelmed. It’s clear they have a passion for food and their kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing.
DESSERT: 🍫🍰🥮 We went full dessert mode and sampled almost all of the dessert menu (don’t judge). We tried the Espresso Pots du Creme, the Peanut Butter Mousse, the Hazelnut Olive Oil Cake, and two of the “dessert cocktails”. Everything was phenomenal.
SERVICE: Shoutout to Xander, our server, who struck that perfect balance between attentive and chill. He made genuine recommendations, kept our glasses full, and added to the relaxed vibe.
OVERALL: Whether you consider yourself a foodie, need to plan a date night, or just want an elevated meal that doesn’t feel stuffy, ’Plas delivers on every front. The seasonal menu concept keeps things fresh, and the execution was excellent. I definitely want to go back and try more things.

Everything about ‘plas is delightful! The food was notably delicious and unique, our server was delightful and attentive, and the atmosphere perfect for date night or girls night out. We will be going back to try more, as we stuffed ourselves and had to skip the incredibly tempting dessert menu! Highly recommend!!
*We split the dishes so this is half a seabass plate, which we both drained to the last drop. I drank the broth right out of the bowl it was so yummy!!

Excellent experience! Highly recommend the pork cheek as an appetizer (wow!) and the lamb loin, and filet dish. Absolutely amazing, and service was great!! Wouldn’t recommend the gnocchi sausage dish, however, as it was a dry dish when we expected a lemon cream sauce, and the gnocchi wasn’t tender unfortunately. Also didn’t care for the foccacia (bread) brought to the table which was cold and not enjoyable. The rest was great and can’t wait to return again!

The duck entree was amazing! I love duck, and I really enjoyed how it was prepared here.
I decided to order the panna cotta appetizer since I've never had panna cotta in a savory dish - it was weird. It was the kind of weird you get when people try a little too hard to be creative... The creamy custard with the umami broth and apples plus mushrooms was not a good pairing. This shouldn't even be on the menu.
For dessert, we had the apple cheesecake and that was forgettable.
I question whether I'd want to ever come back to this restaurant. The first thing I encountered after parking on the side street was an incoherent, screaming crackhead unintelligibly approaching me. Great staff and service once you get inside the restaurant.

Really glad we went! They do an amazing job with their menu - mixing flavors that you wouldn’t think would go together. With that being said, I did feel like it was missing something. Everything I ate was delicious… but it wasn’t 10/10. I’m not quite sure what it was missing, but that X factor just wasn’t there for me. They do an incredible job however, and the taste, texture and look of the food is very high end.
Something I was disappointed in however, was the restaurant’s ambience. With such quality food I expected the vibe to match. The tables and wicker placemats just didn’t live up to the vision I had when I thought of this quaint little place before stepping foot inside.
