Food is good. Cool old style atmosphere, it’s just stupid that they won’t seat you until your entire party is there. So if you have one slow friend, you get to stand there waiting in the way of everyone

Date night... Traveled to Columbus from Dayton, OH... decided on Schmidt's for dinner. Great Choice!!! I had an Incredible Dinner! Jägerschnitzel ('Hunter's Schnitzel'). It was Awesome! Large serving and served hot and quickly. I had sauerkraut and spaetzle with extra mushroom gravy! Outstanding. One of the best dishes I've had in a long time. My wife got the Turkey Reuben dinner with waffle fries and we had their world famous Cream Puffs. Stop there for the cream puffs, even if you're not having dinner! Great evening. Two thumbs up and we'll be back more often.

This was the second time I've been here while visiting the Columbus area. You will have to wait for a table but it's well worth it and it gives you time to walk around the beautiful neighborhoods. Food is delicious and the cream puffs are other-worldly. I know I'll be back again!

Love the food, German potato salad, and the deserts. We ate there 2 days in a row while visiting Columbus. Can't wait to come back!!!

Pretty good German fare and the service was, for the most part, very good. I ordered a sausage sampler, but to be honest, I didn't know what I was eating and nor did the server. They serve applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon and a sweet sort of kraft. The bread is serve hot and buttery, like a warm piece of toast. The hostess wanted to seat me at the bar, and I said no. A small table would suffice. I also ordered a light German house lager as recommended by the bartender. The food was fresh and good. Very clean and extremely festive. Ticket time was about 10 minutes. German music piped in over the sound system. Heart of German Town. I'd say 3.5 stars: 4 for the food, 4 for cleanliness, 4 for ambience, 3 for service.

Very cute interior, when I walked up I was t expecting this place to be here as it's in more of a neighborhood, then I was expecting. But it is very cute, the pretzels are very delicious!!! Honey mustard is great... I usually don't approve of the mustard but this one is great.

I love those type of places, full with history and traditions. This place is amazing, excellent food and service. When we got there it was a line, but they manage it to sit us sooner. You need to try the cream puffs, they are the best. I truly recommend it!

Hadn't been there in over 20 years and it was awesome. Dinner for 2 for less than $50 is a real rarity anymore. We'll definitely be going back.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I have finally scratched this Columbus icon off the bucket list. You know a place is popular when they have their own merch. I was hoping for some guys with accordions (nope), but we did get lederhosen, schnitzel and jumbo cream puffs! The sides were the star of the show and we tried them all. The warm red cabbage is incredible and the spaetzle is buttery and perfectly cooked. The chicken schnitzel was like a hockey puck - way too dry. Service was fantastic. They also have a deli counter at the entrance where you can purchase sausages or sides to go.
