I used to live in Victorian Village and loved this bakery. Now coming here is a special treat!Today (Thursday) we got a couple of cookies and a peanut butter brownie. The cookies were stale and hard as rocks! I put them with a slice of bread when I got home and they eventually became edible. The brownie smelled terrible when I unwrapped it. An odor much like when something has been in a freezer for too long. I took a bite and could not believe it. Stale! And, apparently, they are buying poor quality ingredients now. This brownie, which had been my favorite for years, is just awful. And it cost $5 which I wouldn't have minded had the same high quality ingredients gone into it and if it was fresh instead of stale.So disappointing. I used to tell people about this bakery. I told them it was the best in the city! Not anymore. Yuk!

We got the perfect cake for our wedding with a couple extra sheet cakes. It was very affordable and delivered without any issues. They were super accommodating and flexible to work with us so easily. We got nothing but compliments on it from guests for how it tasted afterward. Thank you for all the help on a stressful "piece" of the big day!

I have bought slices of cake from SNPOC before and really enjoyed them, so I was excited to work with them for my 30th birthday cake. However, they missed the mark here.The lighter purple cake photo is the cake I received; the darker is the reference image I gave. It's fairly evident that the staff did not understand what they were looking at and they made a 3d sort of generic "gemstone" shape (which was also lopsided); I wanted a more 2d cake with the corners cut off in a hexagon shape to mimic a d20 viewed from the top, as my party was Dungeons and Dragons themed. At no point did they reach out for clarification on the shape or ask any questions about it; I would have been more than happy to talk through it with them!I had also requested that instead of the fondant used in the reference cake, they frost the cake with ganache and airbrush some purple coloring in swirls to mimic galaxy-style dice. When I arrived to pick up the cake, they said, "We tried to do that and it came out really dark; we thought you wouldn't like how it looked so we went with buttercream instead." We did find when we cut into the cake that the ganache was still there under the buttercream, so the flavor was good, but I really didn't like how the buttercream looked and would have appreciated a phone call or email with a question once the ganache plan was attempted. If I had been contacted, I would have said that plain ganache was fine and preferable to the color that came out as the end result on the buttercream. I also could have corrected the shape issue at that point, but as I said, SNPOC did not attempt to contact me once they diverged from the instructions I gave them for the cake. By the time I came to pick up the cake, it was too late for alterations, as I needed to take it out of town with me immediately for the party.The cake did taste delicious, which is why I am giving three stars, as that is what's most important. However, the experience was really disappointing given the money I spent, and I probably won't be back.

My husband and I were so happy with how our wedding cake turned out!! Short North Piece of Cake was extremely accommodating with our changes to flavor and quantities throughout our wedding planning process. We used our own cake stands and collaborated with staff to have a deconstructed cake with varying heights. We will definitely be using this bakery again in the future!

Excellent goodies! Last minute wedding cake and cupcakes. Great service. Loved the Bakery and mood of the Bakers. Good help is hard to find. This was two years ago. My brother is going to use them for the 50th celebration!

To begin, our take home cake tasting was good. But I guess you’d put your best foot forward when trying to get a customer. The cake was awful the day of my wedding. There was frosting thrown into the cake where they obviously had cut part of the cake off. The layers were not even and there was barely any filling. We ordered two different flavors, one of which they didn’t use. The cake was gritty and not well baked. We literally threw most of the cake away. I wasn’t even given a take home box for my top tier. It’s a shame really. You only get one wedding cake, and unfortunately, I trusted it to you.*2 stars because the little pieces of cake they gave for the take home tasting was good.
I felt sorry for my friend on her wedding day. The cake is supposed to be a feature, a highlight of celebration, not an embarrassment. The cake I tasted was worse than a boxed discount store cake mix. The ingredients not mixed right or stirred together enough and tasted like a gross sugar bomb exploded. It tasted cheap, low end generic brands or something. You'd expect a wedding cake from an expensive bakery to taste decent. Sad.

Short North Piece of Cake did such an incredible job on our wedding cake and small bites (brownie bites and cheesecake bites)! Everyone raved about the dessert and how delicious it all was, and the cake was stunning and SO yummy! We worked directly with Kendall and she was great! They also delivered and set up our dessert table, which looked beautiful! Highly recommend!

My partner and I come in here all the time. Since the new owner has taken over, there has been a noticeable change in this business. From the product quality, to the overall morale of the place—it’s very apparent that the new ownership is failing and it’s a heartbreaking sight to behold. We were in yesterday and the owner didn’t even acknowledge us. We were standing around for over ten minutes before someone finally came over to help. It’s such a shame that a place that once radiated such joy is a place of mediocrity now.
