With other restaurants in the area when we get hash browns you can see the plate through the potatoes. In the years we've been coming here we have always had excellent service and excellent food. “Was in Defiance last weekend with friends. We were looking for a place to have lunch and I had seen on the Valentine Theater site that Ensign’s was where Maag’s used to be and they had a lot of the same menu. Went there years ago, before 1980, and was pleasantly surprised with the lunch. Had the roast beef, knockers, chips & draft beer. Everything was great and the prices are very reasonable. We all had a good time and my friends were happy that I suggested going here. Keep up the good work!“

“The staff is always attentive and joyful. Food or ice cream is always delicious and bountiful. With all the choices available, it's hard not to grab something for yourself when making a pit stop! The environment is always welcoming and clean. Sometimes the machines go down, but I can understand that with how busy they can get on a regular basis! And they are always on a quick turn around to get things fixed so it's never a long let down when a machine is down.
With 2 locations in Defiance, and a mobile truck for venues or events, Eric's Ice Cream is a town favorite.“

“I'll start with the best part. The root beer is so good!! We usually have to grab a gallon to bring home. It just hits differently than anywhere else in town. I was slightly disappointed this season it appeared the chili sauce was changed. It was a different color. The flavor was slightly off. Not bad but not great. I don't like that when using a debit card there is no where on the receipt to leave a tip. It is a great place for a little nostalgia. I have been going to the root beer stand since I was a kid. Gone are the days of goofy golf. I would love if they did that again. It would be fun to experience that with my kids. A Foot long chilli dog with cheese and onion and a bag of Andi Caps has been my favorite thing to get since I was probably old enough to order it. The chicken sandwiches are great too.“

“We came in for dinner and were seated right away we ordered an appetizer and our meal at the same time which I was worried about having it all come out at the same time but our waiter Mikey was his name was on point and very friendly he did a wonderful job of making sure we were happy with our experience“

“Always a good option, can be a little noisy in there if you go during the lunch rush. It's a nice little place though overall with pretty good staff and good service. Nobody is particularly over the top with service and the whole place is pretty chill. The food is nice, lots of variety and they have a bar with many drinks selections.

Kids are definitely welcomed in as well even if there is a bar, and it's a good family place and while they don't have any games, it's a neat little place to go with a group. You can dine alone but it's better with friends or family. It makes for a very peaceful retreat in the end.

Parking: There's a normal parking section for dining in as well as a handful of spots for when you're just getting food to go.“
