The raisin cinnamon walnut loaf was well made, plenty of raisins and walnuts throughout. Very pricy, pictured is the small loaf, $5.50! A full sized loaf is $9.75! The storefront is quaint, standing room only. Street parking readily available. Staff is friendly and there wasn't too much of a wait.

My go to place for quality bread! Who doesn't like a good sandwich? You can't have one without a fantastic loaf of bread. Breadsmith does not

Great bakery! Everything they make is absolutely delicious. We drive from another city just to buy the baked goods.

I see I'm in the minority in weak reviews, yet many of the strong ones are from a while ago. Stopped for first time this. Service was friendly, which is a distinct difference from another similar business close by. But the product left a lot to be desired. Very little flavor, be it savory or sweet items. And not terribly fresh. Having read good reviews, it looks like sourdough and rye might be worth a try.

I learned about this bakery when I was walking down detroit and I will always go there for bread now. Their rustic Italian is the best rustic Italian I've ever had. I would recommend this bakery to everyone.

They left me high and dry on Thanksgiving: I ordered a large bread/rolls order for Thanksgiving one week in advance to the holiday (nearly $100 worth of bread). An employee from Breadsmith called me today (Wednesday–11/22–the day before Thanksgiving) to let me know due to a system error, they cannot fill my order (not even partially). Now I am scrambling to find the large amount of rolls and bread amongst other stores in Lakewood before our family dinner.Additionally, they wanted me to return to the store for a refund, which I said no–since I paid via phone, they could refund my card over the phone. The owner called me back, gave me my refund, and had no excuse/info regarding the error. I stated I was a loyal customer (at least 2-3x a month visit for nearly 20 years), and I asked if they could do something, even a small gesture, to make it right by me. They refused stating: "We are small artisan bakery and these things happen."It's very upsetting as they are our favorite bakery in Lakewood, and we love supporting small business, but I feel so slighted as they really put me in a lurch, and added additional holiday stress at the last minute without really offering to make it right.

Although I love this place and have been a customer for nearly 2 decades, they dropped the ball on my Thanksgiving. A week prior to Thanksgiving, I ordered nearly $100 worth of rolls/bread for our large holiday dinner. The day before Thanksgiving (when my order was scheduled for pickup), they called me and said they had a "system error" and my order was cancelled. They refunded my money, and completely left me scrambling for rolls/bread right before Thanksgiving. They didn't even offer to give me a partial order, nor were they interested in making things right. It is so unfortunate as my family and I are huge fans of this small business, but they really tarnished our views of them after this incident. I completely understand that mistakes happen, but not even attempting to make it right, and brushing my frustration off with a "sorry about that" really is upsetting.

Fabulous. You gotta try the onion rye on thursday. You will never eat any other kind of toast again. Perfect with corned beef too.
