Root Cafe is the kind of place whose atmosphere and culture are established independently, first by the owners through the creation of a neighborhood venue that reflects themselves, and second, by the contributions of the local regulars. Classy, yet comfortable and down to earth.

The Root is what I'd imagine Lakewood as a whole is all about. Tons of personality and character and super welcoming. Wife and I stopped for a couple of teas and the barista was super helpful and put together a couple of fantastic drinks. Very cool atmosphere and lots of drink selections.

Root Cafe is a fantastic spot, especially for anyone looking for all-vegetarian and vegan dining options. I really appreciated how easily they agreed to modify my order. I had the vegan power bowl, which was truly amazing. It featured fresh veggies and lots of flavor. The only thing I would have loved was a bit more tempeh, but that’s a minor suggestion in an otherwise delicious dish.
