About Prohibition at the Caverns

Prohibition at the Caverns offers a unique fine dining experience in a speakeasy-style setting within a cavern, originally a place where beer was stored during the Civil War by local brewers. Guests can enjoy a tour of the house-made wine cellar before being seated. The restaurant features a four-course culinary experience with wine pairings or an eight-course tasting menu. The menu highlights dishes like Beef Tartare, Lobster Roll, Lobster Bisque, Tangelo Salad, Filet Mignon, Scallop, Lemon Blueberry Buckle, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse. The food is described as delicious, with a focus on creativity and quality. Guests have enjoyed the cheese crackers and jam as a favorite first course. Each dish is served at a nice pace, ensuring no one leaves hungry, and desserts are also a highlight. A small treat is given at the end of the meal, adding a personal touch.

Servers are knowledgeable and attentive, creating a relaxed atmosphere, and the service is noted as fantastic, with staff explaining each dish and the owners checking in with guests. The ambience and general setting are magical, making Prohibition at the Caverns a great choice for special occasions. Guests are encouraged to bring a sweater as the caverns can be damp and cool. Bathrooms are located on the main level. Prohibition at the Caverns is definitely worth the drive and time, making it a memorable dining experience.

We stumbled upon this gem driving through Mansfield. That night, we had dinner at Hudson & Essex since the cavern isn’t a place you just ‘drop in’. Immediately made a reservation for this exclusive restaurant. This was an incredible experience. The location, the staff, the food was top-notch. Inventive and impeccably presented, the dishes reminded us of the French Laundry in Napa Valley. We would truly pay twice the price for this level of quality.

Highly recommend! We celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary here and it did not disappoint. Everything from the food & drinks to the staff and atmosphere is top notch!

We had an amazing dinner here after our wedding. What a great experience. The food was amazing, the staff were very knowledgeable, and the ambiance was one of a kind.
