1833 Restaurant At The Hotel At Oberlin

We love their fresh salads from locally grown produce. I had the 1833 salad and it was delicious!

The service and atmosphere is quite good, I was there many times alone or with my friends, but the portion ratio could use improvement. If you’re ordering just an appetizer and a main course on their weekday menu, don’t expect to leave fully satisfied, especially when it comes to their main course. The portion is surprisingly unbalanced, roughly an ounce of meat, and it’s served with a heavy load of carbs. While filling at first, these carb-heavy sides can leave you feeling bloated and hungry again soon after. It’s not the most balanced approach, especially if you’re mindful of nutrition or blood sugar levels. As for the salmon, it’s unfortunately overcooked, and if the salmon is overcooked you won’t even have a chance to get into the quality of the fish itself, Heritage’s Wednesday Salmon is better than there’s, I thought I came here for a better food quality…not just a pretty plating.

That said, I do recommend the steak with scrambled eggs from the weekend brunch menu, if you change the fries to the salad. It’s a more generous, well-balanced dish that delivers both on flavor and nutritional value.

I was at the fundraiser at Lorain County Community College last night and their food blew my mind. Delicate and delicious ?

Hands down my new favorite restaurant. The food was fresh and full of flavor. The best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted. The butter lettuce salad, amazing. Everything was prepared very thoughtfully in flavor, combination and presentation. The prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. The atmosphere is clean and airy. Our server was perfect. Attentive, but not overly. He definitely contributed to it being an extremely pleasant dining experience

Recommended dishes: Mac and Cheese, 16 Layer Crepe Cake, Salad

The food was fantastic. The salad with blue cheese and pecans was fresh and light. The main dish with risotto and shrimp tasted fresh and the mini tomatoes a great touch. The bread pudding ala mode was well executed. The server even gave us to go cups at the end of dinner to explore campus Diet Coke in hand.

1st time at 1833 Restaurant this past weekend. Met my friend after church for brunch. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was DIVINE! I loved this dish. My friend got the banana blueberry pancakes. She shared one with me. The pancakes were amazing as well. I also had a mimosa with my meal. The waitress was great and the atmosphere of the restaurant was quite nice. Definitely will be back.

Last night I swear the bartender ignored me on purpose, but finally when she got to me was pretty good, but I TOLD her I would give a good tip. And I did.But today at brunch we went back and I guess they thought our order was already in? Okay, so we waited and waited . Finally we got a server, who apologized for the wait . So, fairly good response in spite of having to wave down a busser to get a waitperson.But then we waited and waited for her to clear our plates, never did. I mean, it’s weird.Food was fresh and yummy, but like, I feel snubbed here. Both times. We had the scrambled eggs, home fries , and deviled eggs, presentation was good, food was good.But why the long long wait ? It’s not very busy. As I write this still waiting to get the plates cleared.Maybe the wait staff shares the tables or something.If you come, don’t be shy about asking for service . Apparently you have to ask for attention at this establishment . Maybe since we are from Oklahoma we have that “out of town” visitor look? Can a restaurant at a three start hotel able to be snobby to visitors ?Funny, they brought the check right out, but never checked back on our food , never cleared the plates. Seemed anxious to tab out and forget about us.Don’t know the name of our server , she never told us.Maybe in Oberlin OH they don’t clear plates here. I don’t expect southern hospitality, but I won’t visit again.
