Best steak I have had in a long time. You cook the stake at your table on a 755 degree volcanic stone. Their own dipping sauce just added the perfect amount of flavor. I will definitely return with some friends.

Absolutely terrible. We spent a combined 800$ between all of us and not one of us had a good experience. We all arrived before 5:30 and had reservations. We put our food order in around 5:45 and didnt receive our orders until 7. All of our side dishes were cold. THE MEAT IS RAW HOW DID IT TAKE OVER AN HOUR TO BRING OUR MEALS??? The restaurant was dead which should have been an indication of it’s quality in a Saturday night. None of us will ever be coming back to this restaurant.

Quality of food is always good. Service and cleanliness can be spotty. Fairly pricey meal but you will definitely leave full.

Black Rock had been recommended by a friend to try, so we did. I was wondering how a heated rock was going to cook my dinner to my satisfaction. It would take 45 seconds on each side to cook my steak med-well, but that was only if I cut it in slices and continued to cook it. Was not happy doing that. The real problem was that the smoke coming off the rock when the meat was placed there rose to deposit drops of grease on the floor around. There were 5 other tables that were doing the same thing and made walking on the floor a problem. The smoke also caused my wife to have an asthma attack. The baked potato that I ordered was not fully cooked and I only had one bite of it. I know we will not go back.

I was really looking forward to taking my boyfriend to a surprise dinner for his birthday. Although my parents got us a gift card to celebrate the special day, we were left seriously disappointed. Since they don’t offer reservations (which I completely understand), I called a week beforehand to have my name on a wait list the day of. We totally don’t mind waiting and understand that nights are busy. Fast forward to the night of, and after giving them my name and checking in at the front desk, they said that we would be seated in 15 minutes. We sat on the bench inside of the restaurant, not even 5 feet from the desk where we checked in. 15 minutes later we received a text stating, “please press 1 when you are on the way.” We found this odd since we had already checked in with someone. We assumed we would receive a text stating, “your table is ready.” After about 45 minutes of waiting on the bench right next to the check-in desk, we got up and asked the wait staff, “How many people are ahead of us?” Comes to learn they gave up our table because we didn’t tell them we were on the way. They informed us that they gave up our table, despite checking in with them. They said our wait would be 1.5 hour and they couldn’t guarantee us a table at all. Disappointed is an understatement. We just wanted to try the restaurant, and at this point, I will never advise anyone to eat here. It’s poorly organized, and there is no guarantee they will actually seat you, even when you follow the necessary steps.

Server was attentive, helpful and friendly. ~ Know before you go that you'll be cooking your own food on a hot lava rock.~ This was our first time and if we'd known we were going to cook our own food we would have gone elsewhere. (I even asked if they could just cook me a steak and she said no.) The reason we go to a resturant is to have someone else cook for us while we relax. They have American menu options. We tried the soup sampler and all the soups were good, flavorful and filling. Appetizer of fried pickles is NOT good, just very thin pickle chips deep fried till hey are literally hard unchewable chips. Appetizer of Portobello Mushrooms are amazing, cheesey, large and delicious. Hubby tried the cook it your self steak and seemed to be having fun at first but then he got frustrated and ended up not enjoying the experience, although the steak was a nice cut of meat. The Mac-n-Cheese side was very plasticy mac-n-cheese, not good. I had a side salad that was actually very large, fresh and good. I ordered a steak stir fry and it was not good, rice was over sauced, glutenous mess, the pieces of steak were just ok, the veggies were soggy. Cheesecake dessert was very large serving and good, big enough to share. We took ZERO leftovers home, it just wasn't good enough to want any of the leftovers. The resturant itself was very clean, nice layout with tables and booths. High booths (with a conventient bar for your feet) or regular booths and a large bar area as well. Booths are large and could accommodate six adults comfortably. Restrooms were very clean. Again our server was great, poor rating had nothing to do with service. I personally would NOT bring children here because of the hot lava rock brought to your table. It is OVER 700 degrees fahrenheit and that is just too dangerous to have in front of curious kids.

I took my girlfriend to the Toledo Black Rock for Valentines day. To start, the restaurant is beautiful. In addition to this, the food was brilliant. The manager came out to check on us mid way through our meal. He was very kind and very helpful. Lastly, the service was on point. Our waitress, Katelyn, was always ready and available to help. It was one of my best dining experiences. We will be back!

Don’t go here during covid restrictions because you won’t get in. Their website says they don’t take reservations but do priority seating. We called on the way there and were told priority seating was full but they were taking walk ins. Got there and were told “we just stopped taking walk ins” it wasn’t even 5pm yet and literally no one not on a list could get in

This was our first time here, so we were a little taken aback at the fact that we had to cook our own food (Steak and Shrimp). We followed the recommended cooking times for our meals, but it didn't turn out right and both ended up being burnt. At these prices, I would have much rather had a professional cook our meals, rather than have us attempt to. Cool idea, just didn't work for us. However, our server was great and attentive, and our appetizer was delicious!

The American fries is the best deal and is pretty good, compared to everything else.
