“Words cannot explain how much I love the chicken enchiladas here. I used to eat lunch at their location on 3rd street in Dayton almost everyday at one point in my life. I was very happy to see they opened this location. I wish I could eat here more often!”

“Great fish, pretty quick service if not busy.
Service is not very friendly, hard to understand.
They also would not let me order my food to pickup without paying over the phone with a credit card ? when I wanted to pay there & stated they wouldn't make the food till I was there anyways ??”

“This was our first visit and we were greeted as soon as we came in. Restaurant was not that busy but we did hear a lot of take out orders being called in. It was a quiet and older restaurant but comfortable. I ordered the chef salad and it was excellent! Fresh lettuce, veggies and meat. Came with texas toast. Large salad too. My friend orded the pancakes with strawberries. Pancakes were good but strawberries were very soggy and bitter. She had to scrape them off the pancakes. Overall, it was a good experience. Will be back but not order fresh fruit again.”

“Quick and freshly cooked. Food was alright, nothing special as it's KFC and definitely not better than Popeyes ?. Great customer service which was a delightful surprise. I'd go back just for that. The associates, a young man and young women were so charming and funny! They worked well together getting orders taken care of while seemingly still enjoying their jobs. Awesome to see! I wish I'd gotten their names, that's my only real gripe. Whether or not I'm going to complain because people always do, I would also like to know their names so I know who I'm praising and to make sure that the right person or in this case, group of people here who deserve to be named and recognized for their effort in the fast food industry.”

“Pretty cool spot, honestly pretty expensive but I’m not mad inflation is insane. The only thing I don’t like is the area. To many crackheads. But the Açaí bowl is fire. Everything is else good also. I only been like 3 times. This is my new spot. Unless they relocate to a safer space.”

“Ok so we’ve dined at Old Scratch Troy location about 6 times since it’s opened. Waited a bit to give them time to really get in their groove. While I do recommend the place. Pizza is good, staff is nice (especially Amanda at the bar) and shareables are tasty. That said I would like to see the food’s taste be a little more consistent. My favorite dish is the fire roasted cauliflower but sadly it hasn’t been prepared the same way twice with the last two times it was barely seasoned at all once it was almost raw. Hopefully as training continues they will fix that issue.”

“I got the Tony and it was excellent. The menu is limited, might want to expand sandwich choices even just using different combinations of the same meats / cheeses and toppings. Sides and salads are limited, again might want to look at expanding. The grocery concept, I get it biggest complaint of downtown residents is lack of a grocery store. There selection is limited and didnt look like they covered the basics. I would either get in or out of thar business and maybe focus on being a sandwich shop.”
“I have purchased ribs throughout the US via mail order. Pig of the Month is the best! Not only are there ribs fantastic but I have tried the pork chops, smash burger, bacon, and cabbage rolls. I have yet to have gotten anything that has not been spectacular!”

“Sueño is now easily our favorite Mexican restaurant in Dayton. The atmosphere is vibrant, with great energy and stylish decor. The service is impeccable, complete with complimentary valet parking! Their cocktails are a highlight, especially 'The Guy,' and the food is out of this world. We tried the chips and salsa, (Salsa del Día), Tacos de Cochinita, and the smoked chicken enchiladas — all were absolutely delicious. The smoked chicken enchiladas were so good that we had to order a second serving. I could eat their chips and salsa every day; the salsa, possibly a fermented pineapple and jalapeño blend, is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. If you're looking for upscale Mexican cuisine, Sueño will not disappoint!”

“I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food, but it's tough to locate GOOD Mediterranean food in the Dayton area. Until I found Istanbul Grill. The food is delicious, fresh, healthy, and well presented with large portions. The staff are cheerful, the restaurant is impeccable and clean, almost sparkling, and I enjoyed every second of my visit here. I highly recommend this place for both date night and family d”

“Stopped by this morning to get in line before they opened and it was so worth the wait! My absolute favorites were the tiramisu cold brew and the garlic cream cheese croissant. We also got a variety of other baked goods that were all delicious! The staff were amazing and the atmosphere was excellent! I’m sure we will be back soon!”

“I really wish you could break ratings down farther into quarters. I would most likely rate this establishment a 4.5. So there are several China Cottage restaurants in the Dayton metro area: Centerville, Kettering, Trotwood, and rumor has it they may be opening on in Huber Heights. This review features the Trotwood location.
As I get older, and my palette becomes more discriminating the China Cottage locations are still at the top of my list, and preferred "go to" when I'm in the mood for Asian cuisine. This visit was for supper on a Saturday evening. My husband always orders the same item, no matter which Asian restaurant: Moo Goo Gai Pan. I order the fried eggplant and we shared a Pao Pao Platter.
I will focus on the items I indulged in. I first had the fried eggplant at the Kettering location and totally enjoyed it. So since I like the dish at one of their locations, I decided I should try it at another to see if the dish was consistent at differing locations. I was not disappointed. The fried eggplant was mixed with water chestnuts, thinly sliced garlic, green onions, thinly sliced carrots in a brown sauce. I am not a person who can handle spicy foods and the first time I tried the dish it was at the "2 pepper" heat level which was too much for me. This time I requested it non-spicy. Removing the heat from the dish did not take away any of the flavor. As with the majority of meals you also have your choice of rice to complement it. Portion sizes were more than ample. I took half of home to enjoy at a later time. Of course, part of that could be due to partaking in the Pao Pao platter.
The appetizer could easily be shared with 3, maybe 4 people. The Pao Pao is fun due to how it is presented. Includes a mini heat source for further grilling the meat scures. The crab ragoon is one of my favorites as they add finely chopped onion and imitation crab meat making for a flavorful filling. The seaweed chicken rolls were wonton wrapped chicken with a small band of seaweed around the middle of the roll on the outside. This was good dipped in sweet-n'-sour sauce. The shrimp rolls were okay, but not my favorite. Maybe that was by they time I tried one they had started to cool off. I might have to try them again for a second take. The meat kabobs were tender, and I loved that I could reheat them on the mini grill to my taste.
My husband feels China Cottage has the best Moo Goo Gai Pan of any Asian restaurant he was eaten at.
They do not have a soda fountain, but offer Coke products in 20 oz. bottles. They also have hot and iced tea and a range of alcoholic beverages. Service was great. They were attentive without being over intrusive.
The decor is dark and starting to look a little worn. Bringing my rating score down from a 5. The tropical fish tank is clean and looks well cared for adding a nice calming touch to the atmosphere. I still feel the China Cottages in the area are consistent in their service and cuisine. I will definitely continue to revisit these locations when craving an Asian meet.”
