“Was actually visiting the Pilot Flying J, but Google has the address down for Cinnabon. There is a Cinnabon stand here. To be honest, I'm not positive that they are making fresh Cinnabon here and selling them. (Due to corona...........)“

“Wow. First time eating at Grist. The ambiance is relaxing/chill. The menu selection is on the smaller side....but there's a reason....cause everything they make is outstanding. We started with meatballs. I shared them with the table of 8. Everyone loved them. My wife ordered the Rosemary & Parmesan Focaccia bread...best bread I have ever had! Wife is a bread snob and she loved it. Wife ordered Tagliatelle alla Bolognese. She shared some with me. It was very good. She really liked it. I ordered the Slow Roasted Pork Raviolini. Wow. It was incredible. Wife said it was a lil spicy...but oh...the taste. She loved it as did everyone there...we shared so everyone could taste it. Wife ordered tiramisu. She loved it. I'm not a lover of tiramisu but I liked it. I got a cannoli. It was very good. I also got a chocolate chip cookie. It was great. Grist is definitely a hidden Dayton gem. If you love Italian food...you will love Grist.“

“The staff and manager were really great!!!! I felt really bad for the poor building!!!! The bathroom had one stall that was also the handicapped stall!!?? The decor felt like it was from the 1950s. I'm terrified of what is behind the inches of plaster they threw on the walls!!! I don't think the heat worked in the bathroom or the other side of the building. This was in December!! I know remodeling costs a ton and they probably don't have it in the budget!!!
The pleasant attitude of the workers really made the dining experience pleasant, but the dim lighting and old interior brought down the morale a bit. I think people who go to Perkins remember dining there for decades!!! I love the pancakes and would hate to lose the 2 Perkins we have in the area!!!
The Perkins on Byers road feels like it is newer but maybe it isn't. It definitely has an updated interior and bathroom!! Byers Road does have more windows, so it feels brighter. I had one awful experience there with a check out person so that weights on my mind!
I usually have the same food so I can't say a lot about it. It's definitely comfort food!!! I go through phases where I order the same thing all the time. The pot roast is to die for, as well as the pancakes, eggs and bacon!!“

“Ordered rhubarb pie and strawberry pie. I didn't order the rhubarb pie for myself but the person that got the rhubarb pie loved it. I ate the strawberry pie and it was so good. The sauce was so delicious and not the store bought sauce you see in the stores. They are constantly busy. Worth the money. Plus they have a punch card for every 12 pies you will get one free.“
“Many many items to choose from!“

“I just have to laugh… what is this?! Who trained these cake decorators?! 5 stars because it was just a kid working who decorated this but really??!! I’ll jazz it up when I get home but you can’t tell me they looked at this after decorating and thought “yup, that’s a winner” ??“

“I offer this review not in bitterness, but in truth. It is spoken from lived experience, with clarity, integrity, and a commitment to honoring the full picture. My partner and I were personally invited by the store manager to join the night crew at this location. At the time, we were living out of our van, which had no air conditioning. On hot days, we could not rest properly. We had no way to cook food, so we lived on fast food, which drained our energy and weakened our health. We arrived in survival mode, but we showed up with honesty and willingness. What we were not told, until after we had already started, was that our first two paychecks would be mailed. We had just lost access to our P.O. Box, which meant we could not retrieve them. It was not until three weeks after we began working that our direct deposit was finally set up. Even then, it took over a month before we received our back pay. In response to this, the store manager did offer some short-term assistance. He did our laundry once, bought us each an outfit, and fed us one meal. These gestures were appreciated. However, they were not acts of pure generosity. They were a response to the hardship caused by the store's failure to communicate clearly and support us properly. That support faded quickly, while the pressure and dysfunction within the workplace only deepened. We had confirmed our pay rate multiple times before accepting the offer. Once hired, we discovered the pay was not what we were promised. That betrayal of trust set the tone for everything that followed. My partner, a brilliant, dedicated, and compassionate soul, was emotionally harassed by a coworker. The situation escalated until she developed heart palpitations and anxiety so severe she required medication. The person responsible was eventually investigated, but allowed to resign quietly. No true accountability was ever enforced. That same person's boyfriend was then promoted to team lead over more experienced and qualified candidates, including myself. This exposed a culture where favoritism outweighed fairness. I was also targeted. I was written up for calmly setting a verbal boundary when I said, "Don't talk to me," to one of the team leads. During my interview, I had been clearly told I would not be assigned to the freezer or deli. That assurance was broken. I was regularly assigned to those areas. I was also the only one forced to use a cannon cart, even though my work regularly exceeded the expected quality and consistency. The night manager, who allowed all of this to occur without intervention, was never held accountable. Harassment was tolerated. Boundaries were punished. Favoritism was rewarded. There was no structure of support or genuine leadership in place. To remain fully transparent, I also acknowledge this truth. As the environment became increasingly toxic and our health and stability declined, both my partner's and my own attendance began to suffer. For me personally, my productivity dropped. I was not always operating at my highest level. But I showed up for as long as I could, in a place that drained more than it gave. This was not a safe or honorable experience. It caused real harm. And no one seeking peace, dignity, or honest work should have to endure what we did. There are better places to work. Places where communication is honest. Where leadership is accountable. Where humanity is honored. May this review serve as a beacon. For those walking through hardship. And for those who deserve better. - Cosmic Love @GuruCosmicLove“
