Dairy Queen in Worthington

“I have been here a few times, and I go to a local gym nearby. I live in the community, and I recently got the opportunity to write about a small business that demonstrated social responsibility. I immediately thought of this Dairy Queen. Here is what I wrote, and I wanted to share it because I hope it brightens your day. Keep up the good work!

Social responsibility for a small business is often about doing what is realistic while still keeping the business healthy. Small businesses do not have the same resources or national recognition that large corporations rely on, so their impact usually shows up in everyday choices. These choices include how they treat customers, how they support employees, and how they show up for the community around them. Ethical behavior does not have to be dramatic. It can be consistent, fair, and rooted in the idea that a business should contribute positively to the place where it operates.

A small business that demonstrates this well is the locally owned Dairy Queen in Worthington. Even though Dairy Queen is a national brand, this location operates like a true community business. The owners partner with nearby schools, churches, and youth groups to host fundraisers, car washes, and donation events. Their Facebook page regularly highlights student fundraisers and community activities, including posts that say “our community, our responsibility.” This shows that they see themselves as part of the local fabric rather than just a place to buy ice cream.

Their approach to social responsibility is practical and genuine. They give back in ways that fit their size, such as offering their space, donating a portion of sales, and supporting youth programs. They hire locally and create a welcoming environment for families. These actions may seem small, but they add up to a pattern of ethical behavior and good community citizenship. For a small business, showing up consistently for the people around them is often the most meaningful form of responsibility.“

“Ok this place is near my home and I think that this is the best place to go it’s never too loud or crowded and they have many options plus it’s easy to order and the people are super nice and I love how there are many options for kids and there portions aren’t big or small plus the portions are actually filled to the top and nothing missing“
