“We stopped by Mazzio's while I was in town visiting my children and grandchildren, and it turned into a meal with some very high highs—and one unforgettable low.

We arrived around 3:00 p.m., well after the lunch rush, so the restaurant was quiet with only a handful of other customers. One thing that immediately stood out was the staff. Every employee we encountered was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and eager to help, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked through the door.

We started with the salad bar. Unfortunately, it looked like it had been picked over from the lunch crowd. Several toppings were nearly empty, and the overall cleanliness left quite a bit to be desired. Even so, there was still enough variety for everyone in our group to build a salad they enjoyed.

The real stars of the meal were the pizzas. We ordered two thin-crust pizzas—a Six Meat and a Supreme—and they were absolutely outstanding. The crust was perfectly crisp around the edges while still supporting the toppings without becoming dry. Every slice looked almost too pretty to eat, with generous toppings, gooey melted cheese, and excellent flavor. They arrived fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection. If you're a fan of thin-crust pizza, Mazzio's definitely knows how to do it right.

Then there was the lasagna.

Unfortunately, it was the complete opposite of the pizzas. Without exaggeration, it was hands down the worst lasagna I have ever put in my mouth. The texture was unappetizing, the flavors were bland and oddly processed, and it simply didn't resemble the rich, hearty Italian comfort food you expect when ordering lasagna. After just a couple of bites, I couldn't bring myself to eat any more.

Overall, this visit was a mixed experience. The exceptional service and phenomenal pizzas would absolutely bring me back, but I would avoid the lasagna entirely. If you're stopping at Mazzio's, stick with the pizza—it's clearly what they do best.“
