Boxcar Bakery & Ice Cream Reviews
What a wonderful find! Exceptional service and food! We loved everything about our meal there, will be returning, often!
We drove up from Norman to eat lunch in Guthrie and, of course, needed a little something sweet to wrap up the meal. We found BOXCAR BAKERY AND ICE CREAM while searching on the web and headed there. The only downfall was it was 1:50p and they closed at 2p on Saturday. we hightailed it there. Got there 1:55p. So many people came behind us and clearly they didnt heed the 2p closing time. Me and my husband drove up here from Calera, OK to see our cousin's bakery for the first time. We had homemade sandwiches, cinnamon roll and cookies. As soon as we walked in I started smiling seeing all the pictures of the trains. My dad worked for the railroad and now my brother is carrying on the tradition. We was greeted with smiles from the employees. The town of Guthrie is really neat. This was our first time . We definitely will be back for a weekend and bring our son

Boxcar Bakery & Ice Cream is a charming and welcoming spot located just off the strip downtown, making it perfect for visitors exploring nearby antique stores or looking for a quick lunch or treat. The bakery offers a variety of baked goods and ice cream, with sweet treats like cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies receiving high praise for their size and deliciousness. The recent move to a new location has enhanced the inviting atmosphere, with a cozy interior and friendly staff who are outgoing, kind, and helpful.
Customers appreciate the warm service, especially during special occasions such as Mother’s Day weekend, when staff go above and beyond to make guests feel special—offering thoughtful touches like a special chocolate milk with whipped cream and sprinkles for a granddaughter. The bakery also caters to lunch needs, serving items like breakfast quiche and sandwiches, though some reviews mention that prices have increased and that the club sandwich meat had an unusual taste.
While the drip coffee is strong and good, some experiences highlight the need for better organization during busy times to ensure orders are complete and efficiently served. Despite minor drawbacks, visitors find the bakery to be a delightful place for baked goods, ice cream, breakfast, and lunch, and enjoy the fun touch of a train whistle to celebrate their visit. Overall, Boxcar Bakery & Ice Cream is a cozy, friendly spot with tasty treats and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
