“Little did I know this restaurant would become an oasis for me. When it was first being built, I remember thinking to myself, “What a waste of money—who wants to go out just to eat grass?”

Well, life has a way of humbling us. For the first time ever, I found out I’m prediabetic. I can’t have gluten. I can’t have dairy. I have high cholesterol. The list just kept growing. Prior to this past Monday—from the time I’m writing this on Google Maps—I had no idea my entire diet, and honestly my life, was about to change.

My doctor told me, “If you don’t start now, you’ll need serious medication,” and that could even put my flying career at risk. So Tuesday, I began a completely new diet. And let me tell you, I’ve been starving these last three days, eating nothing I’m accustomed to.

That’s why I call Salads To Go an oasis. This afternoon, I was desperate. Across the street was the old spot where I’d grab a torta or some greasy tacos—calling my name from a distance, begging me to come back. Instead, I pulled into this drive-thru for the first time.

What did I find? Salads. All salads. And at that moment, the Greek salad was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.

Now I understand why places like this exist. There are people like me who simply can’t risk it anymore. For some of us, it isn’t a trend—it’s our only option. And I’m genuinely grateful places like this are here.

“garlic knots were so hard they couldn't be chewed. could hardly cut with a knife. Cobb salad had way too much dressing and it was already mixed in. the chicken or what they called chicken on it was inedible. beware they charge you $2 for each little cup of sauce with the garlic knots and 2.95 for each pizza ingredient. way over priced and bad quality. we'll stick with hideaway from now on.“

It also came with two slices of toast. White, wheat, rye or sourdough. My friend got the country fried pork chops, came with eggs and a biscuit with gravy and then he ordered a side of French toast. Everything was spot on. Quick, friendly service. I asked for two bowls for my leftovers and waitress was kind enough to bring me a fresh bowl of gravy and two to go drinks.“

“I saw a post in our neighborhood Facebook page about Jones Co. Coffee so I had to try it. On the post there was a picture of some wonderful looking muffins. I got the banana nut muffin and it was wonderful! They also had a special drink that I had to try: Carrot Cake Spiced Chai. I got the iced one and it definitely satisfied my sweet tooth 😁. I came in in the early afternoon and they were not very busy and Hannah was politely attentive to my dumb 'dad jokes'. I also found out that the manager (Cindy) baked the muffins fresh in-house. “I wish this allowed for stars and not just "recommend" and "not recommend." I chose the recommend option because it is still a good place but I've been super disappointed the last couple times I've gone/attempted to go. The last time I went in, the ice cream was visibly soft. I tried a couple samples and it was more foam than ice cream. I like frozen solid ice cream. My husband got some but I passed. It was summer and I have worked in ice cream stores before so I chalked it up to the heat coming in and said I'd give it another chance. The past two times (tonight included) that I've tried going, there's no parking. Between the surrounding buildings and hotel parking/valet, there's no space for customers. I give up. They are good but not park and walk a mile away good. I miss the Boxyard location. (And no, I don't go to to BA so I don't go to that location.) 4/5 stars for quality and flavors. 1/5 stars for ease/convenience and location.“

I will tell you this is probably now my favorite place to go for brunch on Cherry Street not only is the food excellent but the staff is amazing as well. There hit chicken burrito is very well filled most places don't put a lot of meat in their burritos but society keeps ya well fed. Great portions. Took some home. I will definitely be back!
