Kaiser's Grateful Bean Cafe is a nostalgic spot in downtown that serves classic burgers and ice cream. The restaurant is known for its old-fashioned atmosphere, reminiscent of a traditional soda shop from the early 1900s. The menu features items like cheeseburgers, potato wedges, and sundaes with homemade ice cream. The chef's seasoning skills shine through, making the dishes flavorful. The ice cream is homemade and of high quality, with favorites like the Chocolate Nirvana and a chocolate root beer float called "Brown Cow." The old-time decor adds to the charm, with lots of original items that make the atmosphere interesting and casual. Staff are friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed, stress-free environment. The place is very kid-friendly, with ramped access for wheelchair users, making it accessible for everyone. Visitors often find it to be a local treasure, especially for its ice cream and soda fountain, which remain a big draw for both families and adults.
The reviews praise the homemade ice cream, which is described as fantastic, with a perfect balance of flavors and a fluffy, delicious texture. Customers also enjoyed the baked breads, which are made from sour starter and ancient whole grains, and can be customized and shipped. The atmosphere is described as a "time machine" with a historic, nostalgic feel, and the service is praised as prompt and attentive.
