Sam's Southern Eatery - NW Expressway

I was a little worried that we were the only customers during prime dinner time and after reading this you'll see why.I must say this was the 2nd worse dining experience I've ever had. The workers were friendly and tried to address the problems with the food, so I can't blame them. And I want to say I've been to the Guthrie location and it was heavenly.I had the 4 piece fish, hush puppies, and cole slaw. My wife had the 4 piece chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans and my son had the 6 piece hot wings, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans.The breading on the fish was really good, but the fish was rubbery and hard to eat like it was fried from frozen. The hush puppies were just okay and my cole slaw tasted like dirty sink water. My wife's chicken was also rubbery, the mashed potatoes were awful and the gravy was very lumpy with visible chunks of flour. The green beans were way overseasoned and were just inedible. When we brought this to the attention to the staff, they brought some new green beans out but it was no different.Worst of all was the stinch inside the restaurant. It smelled like dirty drain water and it was really powerful especially near the drink station and in the restroom. That added to the poor quality of the food made it impossible to eat. $42 for subpar food in a restaurant so dirty on a night where we were literally the only customers is ridiculous! I'm not sure what the source was, but the owner/manager really needs to figure that out.I would have asked for a refund, but I really felt sorry for the guys working there and was honestly tired of complaining by the point that we decided to cut our losses and leave.Incredibly disappointing.

Best catfish around. The phillie stake and cheese Is excellent also!!

I do understand since the virus, things has changed shipping has changed but to have no macaroni and cheese and get to the counter find out running out of fish.

Worst experience for seafood. Too much seasoning, high priced and did not want sides, but charged for them anyway. Will not be returning.

The fish is rubbery and the grilled fish was absolutely TERRIBLE. It was pure rubber. The only thing good is the crab cakes and sides.

Had a hiring sign up so maybe why my wait was so long. Made to order too. Got the burger special with fried to go and it was excellent!! The burger was nicely wrapped ready to eat in foil wrapping so not to leak on my fries and help keep warm. I will be back for sure to try what others were eating inside dinning room when I was waiting for my food.

Shorted the food orders. Called them to let them know and a young guy said he would let someone know and they would call back. Never responded back. Basically cheated out of $28.00 due to not receiving complete orders. Avoid this place, food is overcooked and the fish that we did receive was very small and tough. Definitely not worth the money they charge. Plus their menu prices don't match the actual prices they charge, which are ALOT higher than what's posted. just all around shady. This was our first visit and it's definitely the last. There's other places much better than this.

The girl behind the counter was kind, professional and efficient. The food was fresh hot and good. The restaurant was pretty clean

Use to be good. Filets are not catfish. Food was hot but not tasty,very generic. The green beans were seasoned wrong. The red beans and rice were just a scoop of rice a a spoonful of barely what I call beans. It's a no mo. Won't be back.

Place was clean, counter employee was nice. Food was ok. The prices have gone up, almost too high. And since when are hush puppies considered a side? Shrimp have gotten extremely smaller, that's a disappointment, they used to be huge and so good. Overall, I give it a C- at best.

Food was deep fried heaven, the different batter on shrimp and catfish is delicious. The Poboy sandwich can get a bit messy, but worth it. Will definitely be going back multiple times.

Very good! Food was fresh, hot and DELICIOUS! The gentleman that rang us up was nice and kind and didn’t seem to mind me not knowing the menu or sauces. We were asked a few times throughout our meal if we needed anything as well. The only reason I gave 4* and not five is because the menu had black marker over the prices-which is explained on the counter (inflation has been hard on everyone),and because it looked a bit like the tables/seats have seen better days, but worth it if you can afford it to eat here. Clean surroundings and the food was presented in a well and appetizing manner! Presentation does make a difference and the cook nailed it with my po boy and Mac n cheese.

We have loved this location since they opened. Recently the service and order time have gone way down hill. To add insult to injury, the prices have gone up 20-25% in the last couple of months. The food is still great, that's the only reason they haven't gone all the way down to 1 star.

U Won't be disappointed ????Great location, great daily deals & overall fair prices for good Eats. I love their Catfish Fried Pickles, Fries are seasoned well, shrimps are light, Also In ❤️ with their Crab Cakes too. Sam's special sauce is the bomb as well. Good Seafood spot off NW Expressway in OKC.
