I frequently come here and have no issues. Today I walked through the door @ 1:56 and the 3 guys at the front desk looked at each other and told me they were closed. I am currently at rib crib enjoying my lunch and drinks. The time now is 2:03

For the sake of keeping this from being a novel, The service was severely below par. My partner and I had two entrees, two sushi rolls and an appetizer and all of them were incredibly underwhelming for the price. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Ordered a standard sushi platter. Other people at the table ordered sushi too. The miso soup and salad didn't come out until after everyone else had received their entrees. When everyone else had finished eating I still hadn't received my order. Other people at the table had mistakes in their orders, and the food was mediocre overall.

Arrived and ordered at noon. Currently 12:45PM and still waiting on entrees. C’mon, it doesn’t take almost an hour to prepare a plate of sushi rolls.
Ordered veggie/chicken Japanese fried rice, no chicken.
Waiter repeatedly read back orders wrong, mixed up cups between our table (folks getting cups with straws when they didn’t have straws, getting diet drinks that were supposed to be regular, etc)
Fattiest calamari I’ve ever had.
Didn’t get salad and soup for an order until half an hour after ordering.
Someone had a barking dog in here in a stroller. Who the hell brings a dog in a stroller to a restaurant, and what kind of restaurant allows it without a second glance?

I've had good food here and I've had bad. The bad was the cheaper sushi, it looked like it was from a Walmart package that had been previously frozen, then thawed out. I don't think they even made it there. I've had cheap sushi before at a buffet in another state, and sakuras was WORSE. WOW.
The more expensive sushi was pretty good, but I did have some buyers remorse at $15-17/roll, it wasn't as fresh as I had hoped. The calamari was good though, but giant fried slices, almost reminded me of fat onion rings.
The service was not great though unfortunately. It was very run of the mill, basic. That restaurant looks upscale and charges alot, so I expect someone to ask me how everything tasted, if I need anything. At least check on us...and they weren't even busy, at all. No refills offered, this is waiting tables 101. When I asked a question about the menu item, I was told "I don't know." There was no offering to to check with the chef or anything. She just didn't seem to know how to be a decent waitress. It's sad, I felt kind of sorry for her, but we ended up tipping almost $15 for someone to take our order and bring us one drink and a check. Nothing more, nothing less. Just disappointing. I love sushi, but I cannot justify spending my money there on mediocre sushi with 1 star service.
Also when we walked in the lady/owner/manager didn't smile or greet us, or hardly look at us. She took her sweet time to even speak to us. It was strange and off-putting. She was the first impression and we felt un-welcome. This happened on multiple occasions.
I'm greatful Ponca City has a sushi place, but after the many times we ate there, we just don't go anymore. Too much money for not enough enjoyment. You feel like an after thought there. Maybe the greeter/hostess will smile more in the future? I get people have bad days..but every time? Even when it's slow? You just don't care at that point.
Maybe one day PC will get a faster sushi bar concept that is more fresh!!! That would be awesome!
Oh yeah & and their salad is just iceberg lettuce, that's it!! With what tastes like thousand island dressing and they don't carry ranch, but that is to be expected at a sushi bar.

Just a warning to anyone wanting to eat at Sakura, we went there Saturday night, service was amazing food was good, until the end of the meal when all 6 of us started feeling bad. Then we all had food poisoning for the next 2 days, throwing up, diarrhea, the works. Have been trying to call manager the past few days and kept getting told to call back another time. Finally got through to them just for them to tell me that they are very clean and that there is no way we got food poisoning and they needed a dr note from all 6 of us 3 days after the fact I am not trying to be a Karen but when it comes to food safety I don’t play around. I asked for a refund and got shut down, 174.00 just to be sick
Waited at the front desk for 10 minutes just for them to tell us they can’t serve us at 2:15 when they close dine in at 3 won’t ever be back! Had a group of 4 definitely missed out on a few hundred dollars!

Took my son to eat today for his birthday at 2:30 and they told us they were closed until 4:30. When I said online it says you’re open until 3 the young man said we open back up at 4:30???? If you shut down at 2:30 that’s fine but out that in your hours. On your door and online your hours say you’re open until 3 so then change your hours to match what you advertise or change your the hours online and on your door to match what you actually do. Not that hard.
