I had low expectations for this spot based on the location and being from CA with an endless option for Mexican food. This place might not appeal to the eyes as anything fancy but the food was good. Pretty sure the corn tortillas were homemade cuz they tasted soft and fresh. I got the chili verde and was surprised with how flavorful and tender the meat was. I ordered the large burrito with asada and a grapefruit jurritos. We had chips and salsa while we waited. Believe me it was worth the wait! It was huge...the Asada was full of flavor and tender... inside the homemade carne asada, beans and rice covered in this fantastic cheese sauce with fresh shredded lettuce on the side and a side of guacamole. Tortillería Los Compadres | Mexican is a hidden gem in Ponca City, offering authentic local Mexican food in a classic diner vibe that looks like an old 1950s diner. Everything is really fresh, authentic, and delicious. The large burrito with asada is huge, with homemade carne asada, beans, and rice covered in fantastic cheese sauce, plus fresh shredded lettuce and guacamole. The Asada is full of flavor and tender, with more asada than beans and rice. Breakfast burritos are so good, as are the salsa and guacamole. Tamales are excellent, and the carnitas to steak fajita meat are all good. Rice and homemade tortillas are off the charts. The environment is friendly and peaceful, with old school Mexican music playing. The menudo needed more flavor but is still worth it. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. This place looks rundown but the food makes it all worth it.
