Casano's Italian Restaurant and Catering

Was just ok. Lukewarm veal cutlet in an untoasted bun with less than 1 mushroom and Shaker cheese for 11$. Certainly wasnt bad, nice sauce, and the guy behind the counter was very friendly. I tried this place about once a year and its pretty consistent. Just wasnt for me.

We hired this catering company to provide a banquet meal for an OFSAA rugby championship event for over 500 athletes, coaches, and organizers. Despite repeated discussions beforehand about portion sizes and the fact that these were high school rugby players, the service was handled so poorly that approximately 200 guests did not receive a meal. This was with their staff handing out portions, and they acknowledged they felt bad and were giving larger portions to the first groups of kids.

By the end of service, multiple teams and event organizers were left unfed, and the final team through the line was left with little more than buns and salad. Many schools had to purchase pizza and takeout afterward just to feed their athletes before the next day of competition. This was also after waiting over 1.5 hours because they only had one assembly line to get over 500 people through.

What has been most disappointing is not only the failure in service, but the refusal to take accountability afterward. The focus has been on how much food was prepared, rather than the fact that a significant portion of paying guests were not fed,

When you hire a caterer, you are trusting them not just to cook food, but to properly manage service and ensure all guests are fed. Unfortunately, that did not happen here, and it created a very negative experience for everyone involved and hostility towards organizers. We actually had to issue refunds and are out over 5000$ because Casano's will not take accountability or issue any form of refund for their mismanagement of portion sizes.

Ordered the veal sandwich and lasagna.
Haven't tried the lasagna yet.
The veal sandwich was not something I'd ever order again.
The veal itself was tender and fairly tasty but the sauce was bland and needed more salt or sugar.
It was so small it was mostly bun.
The sauce Tasted out of a can although the reviews all say homemade.
There was a sprinkle of ground parmesan, so again no taste and certainly not authentic.
Few peppers and mushrooms again no flavour.
I was so excited for homemade authentic Italian food but was left disappointed.
Hopefully the lasagna is better.

What a wonderful place. The food is old school. Properly made and fresh. Staff are lovely. You will leave full and happy. If I could give more stars, I would.

Amazing food! We did catering for work from here and everybody loved the food. Everything they made was from scratch and tasted amazing. Staff is super humble. It’s definitely a hidden gem.

The best authentic fresh made Italian food in barrie. Best lasagna in barrie. A little pricey but way cheaper than going to Italy for fresh homemade food. Delicious!

This place really knows how to make delicious food. Take a look around. They have more seating at the back. Whether it's to go or to eat in, definitely give it a shot.

Sal is a awesome guy to deal with. His food is amazing great service great prices. I would recommend this place for catering or just a lunch. Thanks Sal for your effort.

Saw and add on facebook. First time trying, Catered a small batch of pasta, garlic bread and grilled chicken Parm. Lack of sauce in the pasta, very light no flavor, chicken was also bland. Garlic bread was a rock, even sitting in a foil wrapping. That usually only happens if you microwave to defrost and then bake.
I will re-review after trying food in house get a better sense of a fresh experience.

The owner Sal is an absolute gentleman. The restaurant is amazing home made italian food.
His prices are absolutely fantastic.
Pizza, pasta, stuffed peppers, beef stew, homemade soup are just a few of many items offered at Casanos .
You won't be disappointed. I eat lunch here 2-3 times a week.
Healthy and homemade. Doesn't get better..

Dietary restrictions: We required last minute catering, Sam prepared an absolutely wonderful roast beef dinner for 20 with all the fixing!! Absolutely delish, what I did not know is that we had a head chef in our group that raved about how tender and juicy the beef was.
Sam also provided great options for the folks with dietary needs
