The food was delicious. Perfectly aged meats. The service was both quick and very helpful.

Good food, pretty cool cooking done yourself. The owners and or workers were very polite and nice.

The foods are terrible.
I’ve never seen Korean BBQ marinated meat look like this before — the color was dull and unappetizing, nothing like the fresh, vibrant cuts you’d expect from authentic Korean BBQ. The meat was very lean, full of sinew, and extremely tough to chew. Authentic Korean BBQ (or Asian BBQ) should have rich, evenly distributed marbling.
The miso soup and hot & sour soup were completely off in flavor — nothing like how authentic versions should taste.
The seafood wasn’t fresh and had a frozen taste.
The grill wasn’t hot enough, making it hard to cook the food properly and lacking that nice charred aroma.
The “ventilation” hood above the grill was just for decoration — though it hardly mattered, since the grill was so weak there was barely any smoke to begin with.
On top of that, the waiter was rude — she turned off our grill before we had even finished cooking.

Food - the meat is the only good thing about this place. The other foods are not good at all. The sushi feels old for some reason and the kimchi is definitely way more salty than needed. The wonton soup and dumplings tasted so disgusting I don’t even know how to explain. It was like they served us expired food.
Service - was good but they didn’t speak English. Still we were able to communicate and get the food we wanted.
Atmosphere - literally no one was here. No one at all. Just the servers and us. It gives the place a creepy vibe. Like they were watching us eat.
Overall I would not recommend. It’s not kbbq rather $40 for basically tender meat. But if you want authentic this is not it. I would say don’t look at the rating and just find a good place in north York or Markham. This place was a total waste of money.

We’ve been coming here for a while now and it remains one of my favourite places in Barrie. The staff are always friendly and the restaurant atmosphere is usually very calm.
The food is delicious, with both the lunch and dinner options being delicious. Most recently I came here for dinner and the kalbi short ribs and pork slices were by far the highlights of the meal. The hot dishes like the General Tao chicken or their sushi deserve a mention too along with the sides and other goodies they offer.
I will continue coming back and recommending this to my friends and colleagues!

Grills don’t even work hardly any heat to cook the meat so you end up with grey meat and no sear it mine aswell be boiled. Building is dirty inside windows have not been cleaned in 20 years probably. All 3 workers wearing dirty and grungy clothing in sandals with no socks. Besides the grill and and nasty building the meat quality is also garbage full of grizzle and fat. Also they were all sitting down eating their own meal so difficult to even get any attention. To top it all off they charged us for wasted food… we only made one order tried about 2-3 price of meat and knew I’d be sick if I ate anymore. If it were me I’d apologize and discount the bill considering we didn’t even eat our lunch instead of charging even more money

It is very welcoming, the foods are grate but some times when you repeat an ordee they would lessen the quntity like shrimps, squids, and something thatvwe would know that is a little expensive if you buy in the the grocery. Butvall in all this is a recommendabke restaurant where you can eat unlimitedly.

It's definitely not a Korean BBQ. I will never go there again. Kimchi is way tooooo sweet. Service was really mess. Nobody in the dining room so that it's really hard to order something. The server looks like she doesn't want to change a grill. When we eat Korean bbq, we often change the grill, but she acted like the grill burned since we did wrong. She didn't let us comfortable. She was standing around our table and nagging us.
I don't go again, even though Barrie doesn't have Korean restaurants.
We went for date night. It's a mom n pop space - lots of tables. Good for groups.
The sashimi we ordered was stoll frozen. Most of the beef was very chewy. I liked the chicken and its marinade.
They had some spices on the table or added meat flavoring.
The radish and seaweed appetizers r good.
They do serve 2 mocktails and alcoholic beverages. I suggest making a reservation weekend. It was busy.

This place had an ambiance that made you feel cozy and at home. The service was fast too. We liked how the server was attentive and had a warm smile all the time.
It’s our first time here at Tian Ya BBQ which is a decent Korean-style AYCE BBQ restaurant in Barrie. We usually go to ones in Markham and/or North York.
Their fried spring rolls and scallops (4/5) were delicious with a good crisp on the outside, giving you a crunch with every bite. The spring rolls could use some more filling.
The Volcano Roll was enjoyable (3.5/5). We liked how they had fried batter on the outside to elevate the texture of the dish. The cream cheese was a delight. The portions were big.
The actual Korean-style BBQ was okay (3/5). The kimchi was a bit salty for us. We were hoping it would have more of the tangy, fermented taste to it as well. We liked that it was crunchy and tasted fresh.
Their lettuce was also fresh. They did use iceberg lettuce instead of romaine which was different from what we regularly have at other places.
We had pork, beef, beef short ribs and squid for grilling. Both the pork and beef were thinly sliced and tender. The beef short ribs were marinated well. Maybe a bit more sesame oil, garlic and ginger to the marinade mixture would really help bring out the sweetness and the umami of the meat. The cuts were okay; the meats could have been balanced with some fat/marbling to keep them juicy. We were also looking to have some ssamjang (fermented soybean paste) and sesame oil with salt to go with the meat.
Overall, an okay place to go for AYCE Korean BBQ in Barrie.
