5 Best Bakeries near Buckhorn

“Country Mart is a cute little convenience store and bakery in the Kawarthas. I have been searching for the best butter tart in Ontario — and they were invented here, so the best one in the province is probably the best one in the world. You can see my thoughts on other good butter tarts in my other reviews.

The butter tart at Country Mart is one of the best ones I've tried. What really stood out to me is the crust. It's thick, flaky, and very soft, much more than its counterparts from other bakeries. I much prefer the texture of this tart to the crusts of other butter tarts, so that significantly elevates the product here at Country Mart.

The filling is also good. It has a pleasant texture, solid but also gooey, and with a very slight burnt taste that is very addictive.

Overall I was very impressed, this unassuming bakery punches up with the best in Ontario. Congrats to the owner and staff on baking such an excellent tart!“

I use mobile ordering a lot as well and the staff who serve me know how I like things ...(I am one of many customers as this is a very busy spot)... one time I accidentally hit 1.5 creams in my coffee and they caught it and asked me if I wanted 1 or 1.5... i was so appreciative that they caught that mistake... ya know what a travesty it is when your coffee isn't made right! 🤨
