My wife’s friend and she went to the Greenhouse Café at 3:45 PM to grab food for four children, not realizing it closed at 4 PM (since the museum stays open until 5).
Right away, the staff member didn’t say hello—just snapped, “We close in 9 minutes.” I said okay and asked for some baked goods. There were only two muffins, so I asked if they had more. His response was short and unhelpful, and when I explained we needed enough for four kids, he was just as rude.
The kids ended up ordering hot meals.
When he brought the food to our children, he put it rudely in front of them.
We then overheard him telling his coworkers he was in “go mode,” but still that is no excuse to be rude to paying customers.
We came for a nice experience and spent $70 to be at RBG that afternoon but were made to feel like a nuisance. I really hope the café works on this so that visitors feel welcome instead of rushed out the door.
I must say the food was very good, our children enjoyed it. It’s the service that ruined what was a lovely day at RBG.
Food is very tasty and healthy. I found 2 items that I could have just because of food allergies. The menu is quite varied and selection are very appealing. Burgers are real meat with no wheat fillers. Lot of food in each serving. Service is cafeteria style. Cashier was less than engaging. Place is very clean. Has lots of seating at tables of 4.
Room is nice and bright from one full wall of widows.
Trash and overpriced. Bring your own food.
the prices is somewhat decent the burger was decent. Wish the sandwhich came with cheese for $13. The Cafe is nice though and has a good atmosphere. Very bright with the solarium. The staff was friendly. I wouldn't write home about the food, it got the job done and didn't break the bank to much.

It was nice. I think you should spend a few hours in the gardens, so a lunch break in the café works great.
The food was ok, no more than that, like most fast food, but it wasn't too busy and the service was great.

The person said the soup was vegan and turned out to be vegetarian instead, never saw my refund.

Menu items not available. Cold soup. Food served in a box. RBG members were not advised of the drastic changes to this formerly lovely restaurant.

The service was absolutely ridiculous. The girl with dark hair would not honour the membership discount and stated the card was only valid at the Rock Garden bistro?? We have been coming here for years and never had a problem like this before. She did not heat up our sandwiches (like we have always had done before) she stated the sandwiches will taste "gross and sticky".. We asked her to heat them up as this is how we've always eaten them.. finally winning the argument, she did so ....they were crispy, and the cheese was melted perfectly... The service is absolutely ridiculous. I would not suggest going here unless you want to put up a fight with the staff over how you would like your $30 sandwiches heated.. the girls this past week were lovely.. very polite! I don't know what happened with this one??Prices could be more reasonable...

Amazing food! Everyone in our group got something different and everyone loved what they got! From the Italian panini and turkey club to the chicken parm sandwich, it was all super tasty! Kavin (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) was so amazing. His customer service skills are unmatched! He deserves a promotion and should consider a career in the humanities or hospitality because he’s a star!

The food was so-so. Not bad at all but not spectacular.
The service however was incredible. The gentleman behind the counter had grace, a sense of humor and infinite patience.

I had lunch at the botanic garden on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was a lovely experience. The burgers and fries are very tasty and the service is quick and friendly. The dining area is nicely laid out under the greenhouse roof. Also the food is reasonably priced. Oddly when I asked two of the RBG staff about the Greenhouse Cafe they really didn't sell it at all, it almost seemed like they were discouraging me to eat there. Overall had a great experience and will come back for sure!

I have always enjoyed the Botanical Garden’s and have been a member for many years. However, after trying several times to reserve or find out how things were going, I got through to the General phone line and found out information. The one piece of information was that you need a garden ticket to get into the Cafe.. Several of us are members but some aren’t. Before members received a discount..Now you need a ticket to get in..plus the cost of the meal. Sorry I reserved at another restaurant just down the road.
You now have to order, pay, and tip first - at a counter. Ladies at the cash friendly and helpful. Gentlemen waiter - a ghost. Overcooked veal cutlet, undercooked chicken, strange almost cajun red sauce, not a kaiser bun as said on menu, and greasy spoon onion rings. Really down hill from previous visits.

Pretty disappointing cafe at lunch time for such nice gardens. It's clearly an after thought. Only cold food, other than soup, but the soup is less than a half cup portion. Wouldn't be surprised if the soup came from a frozen bulk bag. The juice is served in a plastic cup. The options are extremely limited and still very over priced.
