We had friend in town and took him to The Gate for supper. Food was great, everything was top notch. Service, as always, friendly and attentive. Bahoo and The Brat was icing on the cake!!

I have been going to St James gate for many years and it is always very reliable with good food and great service. Late afternoon they went above and beyond accommodating a friend's needs on a busy night. A huge thank you to Jamie and Leah for being awesome. Just a note that the inside is a fun lively atmosphere, but when it is open, the back patio is a lovely quiet spot.

Went back after not being in the area for several years. Happy to say its still as awesome as I remember good atmosphere. Great food the downtown street was looking better made the Street seating excellent. Definitely would go back

We were at your restaurant on Sunday afternoon and were very disappointed that for the 3rd time in a row that we have come to the restaurant there have been no zucchini sticks. Not sure if this is a case of you are selling out because they are popular or the person doing the ordering is not ordering enough particularly on a long weekend. The 3 times that we have been were both weekends and weekdays - twice in the late afternoon and then yesterday in the early afternoon. If you are not going to keep up the stock to offer them, then maybe you should take them off the menu. The fries with the wrap that we ordered were overdone as were the nachos that were ordered. The only good item out of the 3 ordered were the onion rings. We like your restaurant but some things need to change for us to come again or to recommend it.

We visited here on 25th July during the Bridge Street Festival. The service was quick and the staff were extremely friendly. The food was plentiful and very good quality and flavoursome. I considered the visit to be very good value for the price. I had a small accident where I dropped a plate and there was some spillage. The team were on hand very quickly to clean up and the food which may have been affected was replaced without question. I was thoroughly impressed by the service and staff working there. Thank you to all who work there. Next time I’m in Carleton Place I’ll make a point of visiting.

It's kind of hard to write a review. My daughter and I were going to have Father's Day dinner at St James. We sat down on the sidewalk patio at 7pm, We ordered drinks and then the sever came back and told us they were working off the reduced service menu. All it was was appetizers, what a disappointment, at 7pm...we can't order a meal? We canceled our drinks and went in search of a downtown establishment that serves meals in the early evening on a Father's Day Sunday.
If you are looking for a cozy pub experience this is the place. Sheppard's pie was rich and hearty. Our waitress was warm and friendly.

The food is good, the staff is great, and the noise can be loud as it should for a pub -> all the reasons that we go.
Love this little pub. Food is excellent, great prices and friendly staff. Dog friendly on the patio too so we bring our dog a lot.
