Love their triple decker club sandwiche and tasty fries

Delicious!!!

My wife and I have been going to Philos since it opened in the '90s. Prior to us both retiring, Philos was a regular spot for lunches and dinners. The food has always been excellent and the service has always been friendly and quick. Today's visit was the first time that I was left very disappointed.
There were 3 people (at 3 different tables) when we were seated. There were 3 wait staff. It was past the lunch rush - about 2:30. We were given menus. After about 10 minutes, we were asked if we wanted any drinks. We ordered water. Our food order wasn't requested. At least 5 minutes later we were given our water and gave the server our order. My wife overheard 2 wait staff chatting loudly behind the bar as she went to the washroom. Staff were complaining about patrons who complained about how long it was taking to get their food. One staff person stated she decided to make them wait even longer.
When our orders arrived (a steak and mushroom sub for me and a club sandwich for my wife), I realized that my order was wrong. The server took it back without comment. (After several minutes, I did get a side of fries while waiting for my meal.) My wife's club sandwich looked like it hadn't been toasted. My correct order arrived, much different than any sub I've eaten there before. It was dry with little flavour. We then realized why we were given a bottle of the salad dressing.
All wait staff gave us a feeling that we were imposing on them. From our server we observed several heavy sighs. Service was very slow (we feared saying anything after the discussion my wife overheard) and barely friendly.
When leaving, I asked if Sandy (owner) had retired and got a bright smile telling my she'd left just before we'd arrived. Know that, had this been our first visit, it would have been our last.

Amazing dinner! We had the chicken skewers with rice potato and salad and it was divine. The tzatziki is unbelievable and the salad dressing was delicious. I dream of these potatoes and sauce. Only thing was the salad had no Kalamata olives this time which I love. Next time.

My son and I sat for at least 30 minutes without even being given water. After about 15 minutes the server said something about being a minute as she walked past (she did not even look at us) but continued to ignore us for another 15 minutes so we left. We won’t return.

We ordered from here at a family get together over the weekend. 4 chicken pitas, a hamburger platter & souvlaki 1 stick platter. When we placed the order, whoever answered the phone & took the order forgot a pita & we later realized while calculating the total of the order. Had to call back & go over the order again to make sure. Food arrived cold after 30 mins of waiting for delivery. And we live not far from there. One of us found a small bone in the chicken pita. Another one had rubbery bits in the chicken. And the side salad that came with one of the platters had alot of brown lettuce. Overall dissatisfied. Very disappointing. Especially with the price that we paid for our food. Would have Atleast expected our food to be warm. It's too bad, we order from there quite often for events where I work & they've been messing up alot lately with our orders. Will no longer be ordering from here. It's def gone down hill.

Lunch at Philos tasted ok not exceptional (chicken souvlaki was a bit dry), probably because it was cooked long before it was served to us. We ordered oregano chicken breast and chicken souvlaki which comes with rice and garden salad.
There is nothing special about their lettuce, tomato and cucumber with salad dressing.

This eatery has an arbitrary minimum 18% tipping!
Also, the tips are added after 13% HST - essentially customers are paying more than they believe they are. It is actually over 20%
We will not dine here again.

The burger was a frozen patty, it was hard to swallow. Don't recommend getting a burger there.

We went for an early dinner (table of 4) and server took 15 minutes to get our drink order. Food was quick but my aunt got food poisoning from the chicken Caesar salad. (Only had toast earlier in the day so was certainly sick from this restaurant.) Could hear the manager speaking rudely to staff near by. 1/10 Do not recommend.

My wife and I ordered the Greek souvlaki and the chicken was very dry and the potatoes were not good.
