“We went first time on our anniversary and after the meal they brought out dessert for us share. It had anniversary wishes for us and was delicious! Super nice folks, friendly, food was good (they use a little too much oil for my liking as I have issues) but overall food is excellent. Owner came in and made a point to come and say hello and ask how the meal was. Business should do well... They are also very willing to accommodate allergies and omit items out of food preparation. (I am allergic to onions) ❤️
We have done take out twice since, first was kind of skimpy but second was very satisfactory, fast, hot, and good food again. Have not done a brunch yet but will have to check that out as I have heard very good things! 😉“

But, my god, is it better in person trying it out.

“Just had an amazing experience at Sammy's. The people make you so welcome at the place, and the service is excellent. Truly feels like entering a family home for you meals! Staff is so friendly, so nice!

We literally were spoilt for choice. Based on our lunch feels for the day, we were recommended a few things and we loved our meals. Also, these guys are so generous with their portions. Happily stuffed and left with big smiles! We tried the lunch menu today (highly recommend the moussaka!) and we will be going back soon to try their breakfast!“

“A few friends and I went there for breakfast this morning, we aren't from the area so we weren't sure what to expect but we were all starving and it was close so we went in. I will say it was a bit of a wait from the time we sat down until the time we were waited on but I'm telling you it is so totally worth it. We all got breakfast and it was absolutely to DIE for, everything was so good and their hash Browns were without a doubt the best I've ever had. I didn't catch the waiter's name but he was very pleasant, it was a great experience and I will definitely recommend it to anyone I know visiting the area!“

“This is a MUST GO TO Restaurant. I went for breakfast on March 20/23. My experience started with the best service from General Manager Gary Anthony. He was friendly, informative, and fast. The breakfast menu has everything. I love Eggs Bennie. While my style was not on the menu, Gary made it happen anyway. THE BEST EGGS BENNIE EVER! Gary recommended the Banana/Orange/Strawberry juice (it says fresh on the menu). I asked if it was "that grocery store brand" that shall not be named here. He said NO, we made it fresh from real fruit in the blender. It was like a smoothie from heaven. I will return often. While I live about 30 - 40 k from this restaurant (I had an appointment near it that morning) - I will be returning again and often. Next time I'm bringing my wife - She'll love it. Thank you Gary.“

“First time eating at this location and I can confidently say that this was the best experience I’ve ever had at a Swiss Chalet. It was a bit tricky to find the door (as the usual path from 700 University was locked for the weekend) but we eventually found it after walking a few steps down from University Ave, west side. As soon as you enter, the restaurant has a cozy feel but is still bright due to the ample windows. Everything was clean and in order. The food was absolutely delicious, everything was hot and fresh, especially the Chalet Sauce! Our server Remy was exceptionally kind, pleasant, and attentive to our requests - haven’t had such a great experience service-wise in a while! We really appreciated it and it made a difference in how much we enjoyed our meal. Thank you Swiss Chalet and thank you Remy! We’ll be back soon.“

“Sorry I can’t take all the photos because I was soo busy eating food. The food was flavorful, with the Thakali Khana and momos being highlights. The Samosa Chaat and Chicken Chilli were well-spiced, and the biryani was delicious. For dessert, the Gulab Jamun was too good, and the ice cream refreshing. Service was quick and friendly and everyone is so humble in there. Must visit place and taste like home❣️❣️“

“I live 10 minutes away and not knowing they serve dim sum until today. I came to know of it through get together with some ex-colleagues on a Friday lunch. It’s not a well known dim sum restaurant that I usually go to, but I was surprised by the quality, price and atmosphere. Since it’s not well known yet, there was no wait time and the atmosphere and decor was comfortable and traditional Chinese.

The dim sums were tasty and fresh, 蝦餃, 燒賣 and 蝦腸 were filled with juicy large shrimps. It’s compatible with some top notch restaurants in my opinion. Yet the price was very competitive, same cash deal of $5.28 on all regular dim sums on weekdays 9:30am - 2:30pm and $6:18 on weekends during same lunch time. Definitely will go back to try out the rest of the menu. I’m not much a hot pot fan so no opinion on this area that they specialize on.“

“Great spot, not the owners fault but super annoying regulars at the bar... Very loud wouldn't stop talking about sports and American politics... not everybody is interested in bloody last night's game... Or your horribly ill informed opinion regarding politics... the open hatred of Americans was most unwelcome... Not sure this realized he was sat next to an actual American... might want to think about that before broadcasting your thoughts about Kamala/Trump etc... Really good way to get a punch in the face actually lol... Back home there would be a 🔫 involved if someone was mouthing off like that.“
