I always order at chubby’s fish and chips. Last time was bad. Today December 10 2025. Fish was swamping with oil. It looks like it was an order was not being picked up and the refry it. It was burnt, oily and hard. If weather this day was not bad outside. I would have taken it back and give them. It was most disgusting and disappointing lunch I order. Bevel will go back there. It was horrible.

Best fries and gravy in the city. This place has been around forever.

I went to Chubby's tonight. I haven't been there for over 30 years, and it was fantastic. I ordered 2 small halibut and chips and a banquet burger, and fries for me. The banquet burger had 3 slices of peameal bacon on it and was fantastic. What a great place. I will be going back soon.

Their burgers are flamed so good, but their fries are unevenly sized.

I hate to complain honestly, but the fries were really bad.

The people were nice, the atmosphere is cool and retro, the fish was pretty decent but I felt like I was only eating a few of the chips to be polite. They were soggy, uncooked and tasted like dirty fishy oil. I can see from some other reviews that people are saying the fries were stale. Seems to be some inconsistency in the fry cooking. I think the owner really needs to do some quality control there and ensure that the staff know how to cook the fries and especially when to change the oil.

I probably otherwise would have come back, but there are 2 things to get right with fish AND chips. Also the tartar sauce situation is disappointing for a place that specializes in fish and chips, to get little hard to open packets of highly processed cheap stuff.

Whatever you do. Do not buy this. I ordered on over eats. It’s atrocious. Oil slacked batter, almost no fish. It’s the worst I’ve ever order at home in close to 45 years of dish n chips.

How the d people are leaving positive reviews… I have no idea. Awful, stay away, save your money

Best fish and chips in the GTA hands down. If you haven't been here you need to stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Chubby's has been a favourite with us for over 20 years but the food they served us on October 26, 2024 was a disgrace. It wasn't me who did the pickup; I would have refused to take it. Apparently something was wrong with the deep fryer and the oil wasn't hot enough. The condition of the fries was proof that the oil wasn't even close to hot enough.

Shame on Chubby's for presenting food like that to customers.
