We visited the Sherway Gardens and decided to try out the Danish Pastry House. We have an innate liking for rum balls and gave that a shot first. At 6 rum balls for $6, it seemed a deal one could not refuse. And we were not disappointed. They were delicious to say the least and not saccharine sweet as we were used to having before from other bakeries. The pastries at Danish Pastry House in Sherway Gardens look amazing, but unfortunately, they didn’t taste as good as they appeared. I found most of them to be overly sweet, which overshadowed any subtle flavors they might have had.

I was especially disappointed with the iced coffee. It tasted stale and lacked freshness — more like it had been sitting in a dispenser all day (which it visibly had) rather than made fresh. My homemade iced coffee is much better.

Pastries are excellent. Croissants are very flaky and buttery. The høj snegl and kanel snegl taste just like the ones I had during my time in Denmark. Service is fairly hit and miss though. I have been at this location where workers are friendly and know what's going on, and sometimes I have come here and the workers can't seem to understand what I'm saying. Why work at a Danish bakery if you can't even take the time to learn the pronunciation of the pastry...
