Ma Maison Reviews
The Best Ham Sandwich. Recently I had to drive down to Montreal to help a family member. I didn't want to stop along the way so I stopped at Ma Maison to stock up on food for the road. I bought a ham sandwich and some wonderful pastries. I think it may have been the best ham sandwich I ever had. The bread was both crispy and soft. The ham, that perfect mix of salty and sweet, the lettuce and tomato and mustard just made it amazing. When I trained as a chef, the chef who trained...read full review
Fantastic authentic French bakery. Great deserts and main dishes. Bigger parking is in the back. Highly recommended!
Ma Maison - Authentic French experience!
Originally from Montreal, I was visiting Toronto for business with my French colleague.
We stopped at this little French bakery to have a coffee and work.
To our surprise, there was a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches, salads and gourmets ready-to-eat and take out.
We found the service to be courteous, smiling and very polite. The croissants were fresh and the coffee was good, compared to what can be found in large chains!

Ma Maison is a charming French-style bakery offering delicious cuisine and pastries. The warm hospitality and friendly service create a welcoming atmosphere, making it a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or a family outing. The menu includes a variety of options for different dietary needs, including vegetarian choices, and the convenient parking adds to the overall experience.
This bakery is known for its incredible croissants, described as an emotional experience that leaves customers in awe. Alongside the croissants, the quiche is a golden slab of warmth, and the madelines are soft little butter clouds. The espresso served here is dark and smooth, making it a perfect complement to the baked goods. The almond chocolate croissant is especially popular, flaky, buttery, and filled with just the right amount of chocolate—truly a delicious treat. Many customers say it is better than most spots downtown and enjoy eating one every day.
The space itself is cozy, with a charmingly cramped indoor layout and a cute outdoor setup, though seating is limited. Regulars return for the familiar vibe, making it a place where customers feel like part of a community. The staff, including Maho, are always hospitable and kind, creating a warm and welcoming environment. Located near Islington and Bloor, Ma Maison is tucked away in a low-key strip with free parking available, a rarity in Toronto.
Overall, Ma Maison doesn't just serve food; it charms its visitors. It has a special quality that makes people keep coming back for its fresh and delicious offerings. However, with limited seating and early closing hours, it encourages quick visits rather than long stays. Customers often praise the made fresh daily baked goods, cakes, and prepared foods, considering it the best hidden gem in the neighborhood.
