Food was fine and I don’t have anything bad to say about it, but I had what I can only describe as somehow (and weirdly) the most alienating experience I’ve had at a restaurant. When I came in I wasn’t asked how many I need a table for or anything, I was asked “can I help you??” The staff seemed really confused why I came in, despite having been open for hours. I was then told to seat myself, and told to fetch them when I was ready to order. I thought maybe thats just how they are, but then minutes later this other guy came in who was greeted and sat normally, and waited on normally.
When I was “checked on” it was moreso to ask if I was going to order anything else, which added another weird pressure. I just tried to eat as fast as I could and get out. They have their POS set up at the front, but they seemed confused yet again when I got up to pay. Both were very confused when I said the service was bad.
I’m assuming this is a one off, but. Yeah. I’m in town for a doctor’s appointment and just wanted to get a decent brunch beforehand, instead I had a really unpleasant experience as a customer. I won’t be going again, which is unfortunate because the food really isn’t bad and it’s close to the GO station.

I saw some great reviews and went over. People really oversell the incredibly limited and sad decor. The atmosphere is akin to maybe a foreclosure with the dim lighting in addition the extremely sour smell emitating from the ground. The disorganized server booth which we were looking at made me walk out, as it looked dirty and unsafe with all the pluggins in the hanging extended outlet. Apparently there was a change in management recently, so most of the positive reviews are no longer accurate.

This should not be confused with the previous Rise & Shine Family Restaurant. This is no longer a Caribbean themed restaurant.
Unfortunately on our visit, the food was not very good.
One order was returned after one bite. The omelet was more scrambled eggs with vegetables and very oily.
We were offered a $5 discount on the $20 omelet as compensation.
3 eggs ordered over medium were all prepared differently. One was over hard, one was over medium, and one was over easy. At least they were eggs.
Prices are very high. > $20 for basic breakfast and coffee.

Food quality needs improvement
Nice atmosphere. Service was friendly -- the lady did a great job, considering she was the only server in the place, and there were tables inside and out in the patio to serve!
I asked for over easy eggs and got over hard. The hash browns were undercooked and they used old potatoes. I will never return to Shine. Liked it better when was rise and Shine. Very disappointed. And was never offered a second coffee.

One of the bestest lunch i ever had with my family. lots of Canadian stuff as they got rid of most of the island stuff now.
Bacon and chicken quesadilla was full of meat, huge amount of fries and fruit bowl on side......ummmm.....made me full for the day.wife ordered grilled chicken omelette and it came loaded with cheese and huge amount of egg portion...we had never seen that much food in that price.Enjoyed our visit here, coming back next weekend with our kids.

One of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in Guelph. Arrived at noon on a Sunday and it took over an hour for food to come out (3 breakfast dishes, pancakes somehow came out after everything else). They brought the wrong omelette twice, apologized and said they wouldn’t charge for the omelette, then offered to bring it out again. Hesitantly said yes since the other people were nearly finished their meals at this point. After all of this, an hour and a half since we’d sat down, they bring the bill which included the omelette, since they eventually brought out the one that was actually ordered. Just insane. Food was fine at best,- the eggs Benedict was way overcooked. Certainly no better than any other breakfast place and the menu is way worse than when it was Rise and Shine. Feel bad for the server who was apologizing at every step, and we didn’t bother arguing with the bill, just figured we’d cut our losses to not have to spend more time there.

Great spot in downtown for breakfast. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the food. Service was amazing and the ambiance was nice and fresh.
They have inside and outside seating.
We got the Eggs Benedict, BLT sandwich, Hot chocolate and orange pekoe tea.
Keep up the good work ❤️

Great breakfast place! The portions are massive, you get a very good bang for your buck here. Our server was Milaya and she was incredibly kind and courteous. I would definitely recommend this place and I plan on returning as often as possible.

Your average place to eat. Good thing there’s patio to enjoy the nice whether. Place is clean but definitely needs some updating. Server was very friendly and professional, but food takes a while to arrive. Average flavor. Vegetables however are fresh. Rest is a bit dry and not exciting.

This used to be my favourite restaurant in the city, but my recent visit to this restaurant left my family and I surprised. The new management/owners got rid of most of their Carribean dishes that made them famous while increasing their prices significantly beyond inflation. It's a shame to see this hidden gem go out this way...
