Was there for Mother's Day. The servers were very fast and kind, but the owner was heard yelling very loudly at them. Our food was extremely slow and NOT what we ordred. Not sure what's happened here but the new owners will definitely be lucky to stay afloat being they treat their staff so poorly. The bathroom is disgusting. Wouldn't reccomend.

The moment you walk in here, you start feeling some good and cheerful vibes. Shine Brunch and Dinner in Guelph serves the best breakfast in town! The food always has a nice presentation, good portions size and flavor. The menu is great. Along with breakfast, this is a fantastic for lunch and dinner. The staff is so friendly and make you feel welcome. I ate the country skillet and it was so delicious and cheesy! Highly would recommend this place if you are in Guelph or a nearby town.

This used to be my favourite spot in Guelph for Breakfast & Caribbean food. Recent ownership took off all the Caribbean food and the place has gone to 🗑️ in all aspects.

You could not pay me to eat here now. Aside from them taking off all the Caribbean food (which was 90% of the reason I used to go here) the breakfast is awful. I’ve given it a few chances since the ownership change, everytime the food has been awful along with the service.

We mostly order takeout from this restaurant. We always got food that was fresh, tasted flavorful, perfectly cooked. Last friday, me and my husband visited Shine in person for the very first time. We were greeted by some very welcoming staff. They provided very attentive customer service. The food was good in filling and tastewise, very delightful. What a spot! The inner charm and atmosphere felt super cute too. The new owners are very nice too! We're looking forward to revisiting this place again for lunch and dinner as well!

Walking in this place I thought I was in the ghetto. First saw Bunch of hippies playing cards. The walls are composed of old painted skids. The entire place smells like really bad B.O. we even tried a different table.Got out real quick and had our usual Wimpys amazing all day breakfast.

This was the worst food I’ve ever had in my entire life, and I enjoy Taco Bell. It tasted like old fridge and the eggs had shells. Food tastes how the place smells.

Server was nice though.

As a student at Guelph, this used to be the go-to spot after a raucous night to convene and recount stories from the previous night. It would always be packed, with a mish mash of decor and menu items offering a unique dining experience.

Unfortunately, it seems like the new ownership is trying their best to run this restaurant straight into the ground.

I had noticed the dip in quality the last few times I visited, but last Saturday was the worst by far, and has convinced me I will not be returning. In the first 3 seconds walking in, I knew something had changed. Only 4 tables were filled, and the once positive energy the business exuded had diminished. The once usual employees have been replaced by faces that seem to change every visit.

Once seated, we were handed menus comically large that flopped downwards when held, hiding half of the meals on offer. The salt shaker had 8 massive holes, and one tiny pour resulted in a small hill of salt on your meal, rendering part of it inedible. I ordered my eggs over-medium, and they came as cooked as a hard-boiled egg. The hash browns were bland and over-cooked. I have lived 21 years and this is the first time I have not finished my three eggs and bacon at a diner.

This once used to be a vibrant, lively establishment that offered a vibe unlike any I had every experienced. I believe it even opened the floor once a week for salsa dancing. Sadly, the charm has been lost to inept management. I would strongly recommend taking your business other breakfast spots around the downtown area.

Visited on Jan 25, 2025. Told there is new ownership. Even the name has changed. Eggs were overcooked, Ham was burnt on the bottom side. Bacon was deep fried and overcooked. French toast was underdone. Home fries were good. Disappointing. Whenever I was in Guelph this was my breakfast spot. I will not be returning. Not worth the time or money.

End of an era.
Don’t be fooled by past reviews. New owners gutted the place for all it’s worth.
The food has more than lost that ‘wow’ factor, the kids area is basically gone, and the prices are too high.

The waitress was the best part of our night.

The food had an off taste- the rice tasted dirty, our burger was undercooked…

Really a disappointment. Can’t say we will return.

Finally! A place that seasons their food! Such a treat to find in Guelph. The veggie skillet was absolutely to die for. They have a new menu, you should go in and try it out.

Vegetarian options: A variety of vegetarian friendly options on the menu.

I’ve only ordered their food on Uber Eats. Always packaged great with sauces on the side (generous servings). Getting breakfast delivered is risky but not with this place! Try their Mexican Benny.
