Conversate Steak and Seafood

I had been dying to have dinner here. I will say the steak was fabulous, however the sides were so underwhelming. I usually give a place a second chance but this was a special occasion and every aspect of our dinner other than the steak was very disappointing. The cocktail menu sounds really good but also didn’t live up to expectations. I give the steak a 5 but the rest a 2. I still rated 4 just because our server was nice and the restaurant was nice. I hadn’t been in this building for years since it was another restaurant and the transformation is outstanding I will say that.

as a single senior this was a fun splurge. the waiter was efficient without being obtrusive. the caesar salad and steak were perfect. the decor is lovely. highly recommend.

One of the best steaks I've ever had. Alicia was our server and she was a delight. From the appetizers to the desserts- delicious. We will definitely be back here!

Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Conversate! Our server was attentive and friendly the entire night. The food was phenomenal! I got the steak & lobster - both were cooked to perfection. My husband got the lobster bisque and seafood tagliatelle and he really enjoyed both. We will definitely be returning the next time we are craving steak/seafood :)

We went for dinner yesterday for our 5 year wedding anniversary and I was disappointed in some elements. We were greeted warmly, had our coats checked and were taken to our seat. Shortly after a server came over to let us know our main server was in training so she would be assisting and brought us some water. Our main server didn’t come over for almost 10 mins to take our drink order but came back promptly for our dinner order and made good suggestions. We had the scallops to start which he suggested we add another scallop to as it only comes with 3. I had the lamb rack and my husband had the tuna special. The server helped me select a wine to go with my lamb which was a good choice. 2 of my 3 lamb rack pieces were chewy and 1 was butter soft. They all appeared cooked as I asked so I’m not sure if 2 pieces were older cuts or something else was up. The tuna steak was coated in pepper that was so overpowering to the point that’s all he could taste. Our server didn’t come back until we were more than halfway through our meal to check if everything was alright. The other server came back once to refill my wine but otherwise we didn’t see her again. My husband put in the notes when making the reservation that it was for our anniversary but neither server asked us if it was a special occasion or made any mention of it. I’ve been to my fair share of steak and seafood restaurants but I feel like Conversate fell short of my expectations.

Conversate is the best dining spot in Hamilton. The food is simply outstanding from the appetizers to the steak and seafood. Some of my favourites here include the oysters, charred octopus, tiger shrimp and the striploin. Service is top notch as well. You are missing out if you haven’t been here yet. A must visit in Hamilton.

Was recommended by chef Mike. Was such a great experience from the moment I walked in the door. The atmosphere and ambiance was spectacular.. Ordered the Grilled octopus as an appetizer, and couldn't have been more impressed .. my waiter brought warm bread and melted garlic butter as an accompaniment and it was awesome. The Angus Ribeye was my main and accompanied with porcini mushrooms sautéed in butter and together the steak was so savoury.. couldn't have been better.

I wish I could give half stars, because a 4.5 would be closer to how I feel.
I went here for my birthday recently, and took advantage of the very generous free birthday meal. I got the short rib, and my partner got the seafood tagliatelle. We also got the scallops to start. All the dishes were excellent (though the wine tomato sauce wasn't anything anything special), even if the portion sizes are a little on the small side given the price.
The only real issue is the atmosphere. The place feels like it used to be a conference center or something. The seating and wall decorations are very nice, but the place just feels cold and too open. Some carpeting or some partitioning might make the place feel more cozy. It just doesn't fully feel like a restaurant in its current state.
