Mahal Restaurant - Pakistan/Indian Food Hamilton

Chicken Biriyani was horrible. Completely flavourless and bland. There was not slightest hint of any biryani flavours in it. I am not sure if they mixed up the order and gave me just chicken and rice.

Just had their fried fish yesterday after hearing soooo much about it from my mom for the past two years and it was better than ANYTHING I could have expected.
The presentation was amazing, it was SO fresh and the taste was 100/10! Even the naan and chutneys were delicious.

I feel like I've found a gem of a place that I'll be coming back to again and again.

Ordered on Uber eats so can't speak to atmosphere. Honestly food was terrible, maybe the worst I've had in a while. Paneer was overcooked and chewy and there was barely any curry sauce so dry, just oil. There was a thick layer of oil on the paneer and they only gave me 6 tiny cubes. The aloo Palak they sent had literally 4 pieces of potato. 4! Way over priced for such a small portion. And the naan was stale and crunchy. I've been trying hard to find an Indian place that has a decent quantity for the price so I've been trying new places. This isn't the one

My partner and I also both had stomach problems after eating and we eat Indian food often so it's not just a matter of not being used to Indian food. The food was just really greasy and maybe they use old oil

I was living in Hamilton for 2 years, then back to California, the only thing I missing is this restaurant Lahari fish, Nihari and beef jatpat is amazing

Horrible food taste and quality. The lamb biryani has old tough lamb reheated taste from the old taken straight from the fridge really disgusting and I feel I need to throw up just remembering that flavour, the rice is mushy as been heated in microwave.
The butter chicken has few cubes of reheated chicken tough and tasteless and the sauce is nothing special and too sweet.
The place is empty only me and my wife but the staff was disrespectful and she ignored how dirty is the place.
Also to mention the pee smell in the sitting area as the nearby toilet breeze is awful.
To top this horrible experience up, someone (male) was singing loudly to add misery to our stomach.
Please Google make 0 star or - minus as this place is below any expectation

Pathetic food!

Amazing food! Came here with a group of five and everyone enjoyed it. Personally, the fish pakoras were my favourite, being fresh and super tender. The samosas were juicy, the garlic naan was spot on, and the kabobs were fire as well. Definetely would reccomend the Mango Lassi :D If you’re in the Hamilton area, this is definitely one of those hidden gems you need to try. Portions were generous too.

Spoke to the manager and they apologized and said this isn’t their regular quality. This time what I got was exactly how I used to remember it! Thanks guys! Keep up the good work! If you look at the second picture, the portion of protein is a lot!!!

spent $116 on a meal, first thing I noticed was my fish Biryani was not fish and it was chicken instead which I was fine after they agreed to give me a credit for 50% off next time. However the quality has gone down vs 7 years ago. I literally doubted 5 pieces of chicken. Extremely disappointed, if this is the quality they will give out, I won’t be ordering again.
If you see the picture it’s all rice and 5 small pieces of chicken!

Used to order from here often. But recently the quality has been lacking. Ordered fish biryani today and counted only 6 pieces of fish. If you love your rice it'll be very filling for 1 person since it's all rice and hardly any fish. Would have given a 4 🌟 if they gave as much as before. None the less, a good eat if you are craving for Indian food.

Update: bought the fish biryani again this evening, And it was the bomb! They seem to have read my review before and Increased the portion of fish. 5 stars for sure!

A disappointing establishment, i hate wasting money on bad food, got off work picked up some butter chicken, ended up being the worst thing i digested.
