My partner and I did the Valentine’s Day set menu and I can’t express how impressed we were. It was so delicious and felt like fine dining but was so affordable. The atmosphere was so cute and intimate it was the perfect way to spend our Valentine’s. I have been for over a number of times over the years as well and love the baked good. I will say, I miss the coconut and tahini lattes soooo much. They were so good and really set the cafe apart from the rest downtown.

I love this cafe! I live in Toronto but whenever I travel to Hamilton to visit my family I do my best to pass by Synonym on my way back home (I travel through the West Harbour station). Their coffee is outstanding, and their pastries are always fresh and delicious. It might be slightly overpriced but it’s mostly worth it!

A quaint place, great to grab a coffee - breakfast food is nice, although only small bites are offered. If you’re looking for something quick or quiet, swing by!

Had a ?? Polish bread thing, having had breakfast here previously which was a 5/5, have to say the baked good we bought was stale on the day we went, it was borderline inedible. Leaving this review at a 3/5 now to balance out the extremely good breakfast, and the almost returnable baked good.

reserved a table for family day - it was quite busy so that was a good decision. we didn't have a full brunch, just pastries and a cappuccino and mocha, but those were all good. the place is very clean and has great lighting and decoration, you can tell it caters to a younger, trendier crowd in my opinion. very close to west harbour go if you're coming from toronto, so that part is convenient.one note - the waitress said they were sold out of a few pastries because the previous day had been really busy, which was no problem for us but may be for others. it might be better to come on a less busy weekday if you want a specific thing. it also does not seem like the type of cafe to come plug your laptop in and work for hours, so don't come in search of that. great for social outings though!
