I went here two years ago for a birthday dinner and had their steak and frites, and it was the best thing ever! I use to compare all the steaks I had to this restaurant and would constantly look for places that just MIGHT compare. I came back and it was unfortunately just not the same… their steak felt fake and rubbery and it was dry - definitely not like what I had two years ago… I’ve had better steak at chipotle or other fast food joints lol. It use to be so red and juicy (I get mine medium rare) and the meat MELTED in your mouth. Not anymore. I don’t know if it’s a change in inventory or change in chef but this was very disappointing for me. We also had the french onion soup which was way too salty - my partner and I didn’t even finish a quarter of it. My partner had the gnocchi and it was good for a few bites but the flavour was almost too much tha your taste buds just get tired. I’m giving two stars because the server , ambience and environment is nice though.

The French was a delicious dining experience, with attentive service and fresh ingredients, they left nothing to be desired from a nice dinner. The duck break l’orange was absolutely spectacular, with sauces that will blow you away. Make sure to leave room for dessert, because the lemon tart with blueberries was also a show stopper. Great place to go for a celebration.

I saw the winter eat menu and came here. My favorite was the first course, Tete de Cochon Croquette. It was absolutely delicious, thanks to the lady who recommended it. It looked normal on the surface. But once you bite into it, the tender pork knuckle accompanied by mustard, swept through my mouth. The pickled carrots that came with it cut through the greasiness. I was slightly disappointed with the second course. It got a bit too rich for me halfway through. The dessert was a nice end. I look forward to seeing the new menu next time.

I was gaslit by the server, as if I don’t know what Salsify is, and it is not liquorice tasting.
I know my root vegetables, so it was upsetting to have my meal not comped after expressing the lack of accurate description of dish on the menu.
Unless you LIKE liquorice, do NOT order the duck breast à l’orange!!
Not only is it NOT CLOSE TO the classic French dish but the duck breast was dry and skin was not crispy (as described in menu).
For how long I had to wait for water and a fresh drink… there are better restaurants at this price point.
I wouldn’t recommend to friends.

The French was an awesome spot in downtown Hamilton. The French onion soup was piping hot, and had a crispy/melty cheese topping. The Gnocchi was also creamy and amazing. Would recommend to anyone!
Nice breakfast spot, salmon was great :p we will come back for dinner some time!

Every time I’m in Hamilton, I can’t not come here for a Parisian style dining experience. I’ve been here numerous times and would highly recommend their quality of food, the menu, their friendly and sincere service, and the cool atmosphere. I’ve only come here for dinner but today I am here for lunch… and the croque is very delicious! Thanks for maintaining a consistently great vibe and scrumptiously tasting food!!! And your wine selection is top notch as well 🍷
