The service here is so great. The girl with glasses is so kind. My bf and I came here cuz we were craving sushi and we definitely got
what we came for. The wait time to get the food can be a little long but it’s because they are fully making the sushi fresh for everyone. Definitely come here when you want good sushi!!!

Food was absolutely fantastic. Service was absolutely not. We arrived on a Saturday at 12:45pm. Got seated upstairs. Took well over 30 minutes to get our order taken and then another 30 mins to get our food. Heard the older gentleman explain to the table beside us that they had new staff who were still learning. I really hope this place gets it sorted out because the food was really good...when we finally got it.

Rented the upstairs room for a party of what the owner was told 20-25 people and he didnt order more drinks so the only thing we could drink was their beer by halfway through the night. They closed at 9 so you think they would be upstairs getting peoples order, nope. We had to get one of the guys at the party to play waiter because they wouldn’t come up to take our order. Oh and when we got there at 8 (when we booked it for) there was still dirty dishes on the table from whoever ate there previously. Absolutely no preparation from this guy. The sushi was ok, cool atmosphere though…

A fantastic little Asian fusion restaurant, with a next level chef, cooking everything fresh at the back of the restaurant facing the tables! The location is a family operated venture with the wait staff treating every customer like friends and family. I’ve returned multiple times each time I visit Kingston quarterly and am always made to feel appreciated for stopping by. If this restaurant was based only on experience I would still give it 5 stars, but it also has some of the most delicious food you will find in the city! The homestyle tonkatsu bento is the closest I’ve had to my mother in laws’ in Japan, and sushi offerings are prepared with perfect textured, temperate and flavoured sushi rice. Soups, sauces and presentation all have extra care, precision and detail to balance every main dish. Add to this, the reasonable pricing platform of the menu, and you’re left with an experience that anyone at any price point can afford to enjoy! Highly recommend going with a group though so you can try more dishes!!! Make sure to add this to your list of restaurants to visit! Just beware, it’s always packed! ☺️

Honestly, I always end up coming here in Kingston .. one of the best Japanese restaurants in town! The staff are all super kind, and everything I’ve ordered has always been delicious and consistent every time. 🍣✨

Lots of options and we each enjoyed what we got! There is something for everyone here. I got the bento curry. I appreciated it, but there was a lot of fried food. Next time I would get the bento again but with a main that was not fried.

Lava sushi is just perfect!

I've tried two of their ramens. I love the soup and the marinated pork, everything else is 10/10 but their noodles could be much better. I wouldnt mind paying a few more bucks for a perfect bowl of ramen with higher qual chewier noodles.

Did not have the best experience for dinner tonight. My partner and I usually frequent Sima Sushi but since they were closed we went around the corner to Shuroop which we have never tried.

We got seated and greeted by our server and our drinks were brought out quickly. We then sat for about 20 minutes with our menus waiting for our server. She was a friendly person and apologized for the wait. Our order got sent through.

She then delivered my meal which was sashimi, and said my boyfriend’s meal would be out in a moment. It took at least fifteen minutes for his food to come out, I sat with my food in front of me as we both waited for his meal. My boyfriend and I both work in the restaurant service industry, he is a line cook and i am a server, and we have never heard of delivering only half of a meal to a table and making the other person wait at least ten minutes for their food. I overheard our server asking the sushi chef where our last part of our meal was or when it was coming out. I also never leave reviews at places but just felt compelled because of our negative experience

When his meal came out the salmon which was torched on top of the sushi tasted very strongly of gas or propane. I had one tiny piece of the salmon on top and the taste of gas was lingering in my mouth until the time we left.

The restaurant was very busy and the staff seemed stressed out and underprepared, so I thought the worst thing I could do was to complain about our meal. I heard the server apologizing to other tables about wait times on food.

Coming from two people who have been in the service industry for years, I would recommend going to a different sushi place. The staff seemed kind and the food was decent, it just doesn’t seem like they are prepared for busy evenings or dinner rushes.

I’d like to think it’s an issue of being understaffed and that they were just having an off night because the other reviews seem pleasant.

This was the best ramen I have had outside of Japan. I highly recommend it to anyone and if I am back in Kingston again I will return for sure.
