We visited on a Tuesday evening and there were plenty of tables after 7pm, it was about half full. Maybe that affected the atmosphere a little, a bit quiet. Nevertheless it is a nice environment and the staff were friendly and attentive. They made good suggestions about the specials, the wine and were there when we needed them.
I had not been at Casa Rugantino for a few years and I found the food to be well presented and tasty! The special was muffaletta pasta with Arctic Char on top.

3.5. The service and atmosphere was great. The food I was not impressed with. My partner and I both had parmigiana dinners and it just felt like it was something I could have made at home.

We came here for the first time this weekend, and it won't be our last visit.
The place was very busy at 7pm (a good sign, but a bit noisier, we didn't mind), and we got a couple of really good drinks from the bar while we waited for our table. The bar staff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient ... our drinks came quickly and were poured properly.
The clam and scallop appetizers were amazingly tasty and perfectly prepared. We both agreed that the clam broth could have easily been served as seafood soup ... it's that good.
The osso bucco was delicious and fall-apart tender, and the penne carbonara was perfectly cooked and sauced. With these large portions, there was plenty of leftovers.
We both shared the amazing pistachio gellato, which was easily one of the better gellatos we have enjoyed in a long time. A perfectly made machiato finalized this amazing dinner.
We both agreed that this is easily one of the top Italian joints in the area ... and yes, we'll be back.

Average food / small but cozy vibe / what really made our experience 3 star or felt even less was the not so pleasant server, Abigael. Service without smile and rushing for things and just not being a good host made this experience unpleasant. Staff looked over worked and compromising on quality of service. Not worth the 2nd visit .

Everything was going great until the bill came. The shrimp add on was pricey as you only get 4 shrimp for $8 extra with your meal. The lady however over charged us $1, which was not a problem, however I just wanted to know why. After I pointed it out to the lady, she asked if I wanted the dollar back (in a rude tone). I said no because what am I going to make a fuss over that for? Never coming back here again!

Food was bland. Found a bug in the salad. Service was not great. Didn't get salad we ordered. Waters not refilled. Took forever to get wine.

My family and I were here on the weekend for the first time. This place is a hidden gem. The food was beyond my expectations and the service was amazing! Staff were pleasant and very accommodating to specific dietary needs.

Just had possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We are occasional patrons of Casa Rugatino as a decent neighborhood spot. Service is always just okay; but the food and ambience were usually pretty good. Not tonight. Patio was dirty and clearly unkept. Empty planters, fake grass with football lines, dirty table filled with glasses and plates. Waited 10 minutes for water and a drink order. Got the drinks - wrong wine. Food took forever and the Caesar salad was warm and wilted and overdressed. Penne Arrabiatta was too salty and pasta was hard. Soupy chicken and side of pasta forgotten. Manager came out at the end, frankly too late - and despite comping the entire bill, we felt excuses were made. We won’t be back. Too expensive for mediocre food, abysmal service and a dumpy environment. The owner has taken her eye off the ball. It shows.

Service was slow. Had a table of eight decent drinkers and we had to ask for more drinks. Never refilled the water. Food was mediocre and expensive. Vegan options are salad or pizza without cheese (and the pizza was $25 for one person); absolutely no pasta options due to egg. Was fairly busy and after going myself, I’m not sure why.
Dietary restrictions: Apparently you have to call ahead for gluten-free pasta days in advance so they can order it in.
Would not recommend for vegans, almost no options.

Food was okay, but the real issue is that you can't trust the waitstaff to take your correct order. My partner and I don't drink, so we ordered mocktails. We pointed at the mocktail menu and I verbally said "mocktail" yet they brought us the alcoholic version, which we only discovered at the tail end of dinner with me showing signs of being drunk and the bill charging more than double for the alcoholic versions. When we brought this up to our waiter, she was unaccommodating saying "I don't know what to tell you, you should have checked again to know your order was correct". Our bad for trusting that us deliberating pointing at the mocktail list and saying "mocktail" isn't enough. No amendment of the bill to the mocktail price that we had ordered or taking it off the bill was offered. No remorse whatsoever. What was supposed to be a nice night out has instead left us upset and queasy because we don't drink! If you are sober, pregnant, or have any allergies, I would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Came here for a birthday dinner with a friend after many, many years from last dining experience. Food was still good and plentiful. The set up inside however has definitely not been set for accessibility considering handicapped signs on the entrance door. The washroom was blocked by chairs stacked outside the door unable to utilize the facilities.
The server was disappointing and her lack of connection appearing robotic with her patrons. For the price tag I expect better service and attention to detail with the warmth and friendly Italian feel. We felt rushed at the end and not like there was a line waiting for our table.
Disappointing that fencing outside was being worked on during dinner hour with saws running making it impossible for anyone to sit outside and enjoy a wonderful warm spring evening dining.
Even though food was good...between accessibility, disappointing atmosphere and service for the price tag made the celebration meal feeling flat. Next time I think "order to go" is a better choice because value seems only in the food and not the experience.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not easily accessible inside for seating must call in advance to see if they can give table close to entrance to accommodate but in winter maybe very cold. Access to washrooms challenging to get past other tables/chairs and not big enough for wheelchair to go inside room for privacy anyways. There are also no grab bars, or raised seat etc.
