“The food at the Turkish Flames is excellent, fresh, perfectly cooked and spiced. We ate here twice during a recent stay at the nearby Sandman hotel, and it was by far the best food in that locale!“

“Love this cafe! The staff are always friendly, service is quick, and the sugar-free caramel latte and strawberry matcha are both delicious. The food is also consistently good, and the cafe has a clean, welcoming atmosphere. It can be a little cold inside and prices are slightly high, especially with the extra charge for milk alternatives, but overall I really enjoy coming here and would definitely recommend it!“

“I'm really surprised this place is not allot busier. Food is great, beer is reasonably priced. I love guessing what the Japanese songs are about. It's a bit dated looking but that's part of the charm for me. I'm a repeat customer. Definitely recommended.“

“The chicken lollipop was a total disappointment. It was the tiniest lollipop I’ve ever had—honestly, it felt more like a lollipop candy than a chicken lollipop.
The Hakka chicken rice, however, was really nice and well prepared. I especially liked that it was less oily compared to what I’ve had at other Hakka restaurants.
The garlic chicken was also nicely prepared and tasted good, although I would have liked a little more quantity for the price.
Overall, the Hakka chicken rice and garlic chicken were good, but the chicken lollipop was definitely not worth it.“

“I’m surprised there are so many low reviews. The food is supposed to be homey and comforting. If you order something that’s supposed to be simple and easy to digest… it will be slightly bland. So many of the foods are really flavourful, try the mapo tofu. Add XO sauce to the congee if it’s bland for you, or white pepper, soy sauce and sesame oil.
This is one of the best restaurants here in terms of price and quality.“

“First time visiting downtown Kitchener at the Walper Hotel & so happy to find this amazing Speakeasy right across the street. Justin (bartender/owner) was absolutely amazing. Super friendly atmosphere along with delicious cocktails & retro music. What more can you ask for?“
