I purchased a birthday cake for a friend and found out it didn’t come with the birthday candles. However, I was so embarrassed in front of my friends. When I called the store and talked to ViVi (store manager) about this issue, She said we don’t provide the birthday candles unless you request it. I asked her “Who will buy a birthday cake without candles ?!?!?!”…after this experience I will never buy anything from this store period.

Really enjoyed the cakes offered at Bake Code! I ordered the Matcha Tiramisu for a friend's birthday as part of a surprise. The cake was delicious with everyone enjoying it, even if they were not a fan of Matcha. The staff were great and I was able to preorder the cake through the phone and pickup and pay in-store. Highly recommend getting a cake here!

Why run a business if you can't open on time. Staff told me they open at 11 when I asked. Funny, 15 mins late apparently is on time to them.
I was at BAKE CODE WOODBINE location to get buns as usual, a customer came here from time to time. After I paid for the buns and asked for a larger bag for easier carry, they asked $0.25 for the bag( FYI. THE BUNS THERE TASTE ALRIGHT BUT COST BETWEEN $5-7 each BEFORE TAX.) Honestly I don’t mind to pay for the 25 cents at all but I asked the staffs there, I was here not long ago and there was no non-sense $0.25 charges for a bag. Answer from one of the staff: “ Because it is a re-useable bag.” To the owner: you are charging $0.25 for a larger bun storage bag for customer buying buns at average $5-7 each after tax?!?! You lose a customer PERIOD! Because of your unprofessionally staffs response/answer!!!

I bought a few items, including some buns and a slice of tofu cheesecake. I find them slightly pricier than other bakeries, so I normally shop here as a treat. The tofu cheesecake was nicely packed in a Bake Code box and I was thrilled to surprise my son on the day of purchase, when I noticed a tinge of blue and grey on the back and side of the slice. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be mould and therefore not edible. So incredibly disappointed. The buns were fine since I am guessing they are baked daily for sale.I returned the slice the next day. The person behind the counter handled the situation well with an apology and an offer to refund the cost of the slice or to give a replacement slice. There was another mouldy slice for purchase in the store and they promptly removed it when it was pointed out.

Wish I could give zero star. I asked staff if the white peach americano on the signature menu can be made hot, got a negative answer. Then I asked if any of the items on that menu can be made hot, got “anything can be made hot” in a very unwelcoming tone. Also baked products are quite overpriced, buns that are usually $2-3 are $5-6.

Very bad service! Seem to not welcome customers!
I went there twice in a week at around 2 something in the afternoon. But I didn’t get a chance to buy anything. Because there were 4-5 people ahead of me, and most of them were ordering tea.ONLY one staff was serving, so, it took an age until they can serve you. I gave up because I had next appointment. The bakery part looks good to me, and I was tempted to buy some and try. They should hire more staffs to work, at least one for cashier and one for tea making.Actually, I also saw two staffs sitting at the end of the restaurants, may be it’s their lunch time, or rest time, they saw the long queue, but didn’t come and help. (So, this is the management problem.)Today, I was trying to line up with a tray of croissants, but I ended up put them all back and left. I had no more patience to wait.(I was not the only one, there was another customer doing the same like me.)Quite disappointing.

Ok so this Bake Code/Chatime is inside the 16th and Woodbine plaza (w/ the TnT supermarket and All Star Wings).I think if we're going based strictly off of quality of the baked goods, the rating would be like a 3 or 3.5 but I'm giving a 4 JUST because, it's one of the ONLY dessert/pastry shops open late which in my eyes is a MASSIVE plus. You would think that a lot of dessert places would open past 8:30 pm since dessert is usually an "after-dinner" type thing but you'd be surprised to find that a lot of shops in the GTA close relatively early (from anywhere between 6:30-8pm) when a lot of ppl are still eating dinner. My gf loves cake. In fact, I think cake is one of (if not fave) her fave food. Whenever we go out and finish dinner and she's craving cake, Bake Code is one of the only places that is still open. The pastries themselves are avg to above avg I'd say. I think some of their cheesecakes and tiramisu are actually decent! Sometimes you get a one off slice of cake that is a lil drier than usual but I would stay away from the macarons.Haven't tried the bread, croissants or any of the flaky pastries so I can't attest to those but just based off of hours/availability alone, I'm giving them a boosted score on top of the 3 - 3.5 rating.

After reading the negative comments about the customer service at this location, I can confirm that the horror stories are true. To start, not that many customers were present during the time of my visit, however, I still had to wait 30 minutes before getting my drink, not to mention that I was not acknowledged and truly felt a lack of respect. The male who I presume to be the manager is not friendly nor professional. When asking questions, the answers I received were rude, and his tone and choice of words were condescending. Also, the location is extremely filthy with leftover garbage, crumbs, and cups scattered across the seating area. The washroom looks like it has not been cleaned ever. I must say I was incredibly disappointed by this experience I advise everyone to exercise caution when dealing with this establishment.

The manager that works here is not very friendly nor professional. He raises his voice at customers and employees. He needs to work on his customer service and basic workplace respect and etiquette. There needs to be some sort of manager training because I have delt with him too many times and it’s always just him that is disrespectful when serving. Chatime needs to review the way they train their staff. unfortunate, but really comes to show how they neglect this basic training in customer service especially those in management positions.
