Magical Taste of China

This is one of the Chinese north western halal restaurants franchise in Toronto. I had visit this franchise in other location and general speaking, they are good at what they are doing.
The meat were tasty and full of spices. Due to the current inflation, the portion definitely shrinked a lot (lol). For one for the chicken soft bone, that is a 7 bucks dish and we only get a handful of soft bone as per the photo.
And the chicken stew with potato, the portion had gone down too.
May come back in the future when every thing not that expensive.

We reached at around 10pm , they told us that last order is at 10.30 and then got us food at 10.45pm the food was below average , no flavour. When we were paying they charged a 12% tip by default and we had no choice. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This evening, I visited Magical Taste of China for my mom’s birthday. It was our first time there, and I found this restaurant on TikTok, so I had high hopes.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. Nobody greeted us, we were simply told to “find a table.” Since it was our first visit, we didn’t know that ordering had to be done digitally through our phones, and no staff member came by to explain the process.

Throughout our meal, no one checked on us to see if we needed anything or if we were enjoying the food. I had to go up to the counter myself to ask for takeout containers and request the bill, which are things a server would normally assist with. I also couldn’t help but notice that staff seemed to be much more attentive to customers of Asian background, while our table was largely ignored. I can’t say for certain what the reason was, but it left me feeling uncomfortable and wondering whether we were being treated differently.

When it came time to pay, I chose not to leave a tip because the service was poor and the food wasn’t very good. After I paid, the server looked at the receipt, noticed there was no tip, and asked, “Are you going to tip the server?” I honestly replied that there hadn’t been any service provided. The only thing they did was put our leftovers into containers. I didn’t catch the server’s name, but it was the lady wearing a cap and mopping on June 16.

As for the food, it was very underwhelming. The beef kebab skewers were the only item I enjoyed. The dumplings and fried rice were both bland and lacked flavor.

Overall, the service was disappointing, and the food did not live up to the hype. Sadly, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely delicious! The food was amazing, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.

My favorite dish was definitely the lamb. It was incredibly tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection with no gamey taste at all. Easily some of the best lamb I’ve ever had.

Great food, great service, and a wonderful dining experience overall. Highly recommend, and I will definitely be coming back!

We went to the VIP room because we had 9 people and our server was amazing with the service, food came really quickly asides from the noodles because they are freshly made. Food was really good and ambiance in the room was great. Will be coming here again. Janet is top tier and she made our experience even more better, so kind and also very hospitable and exceptional service.

I have been to a lot of Chinese Restaurants in the past 15 years and this place tops them all! Food takes you right back to China. Very authentic. Service is tops. The dishes served hot. I also enjoy Chinese music as well. My absolute favourite. I will return. Many times. Regards... Stephen.

traditional Xinjiang cuisine with generous portions at a reasonable price. The service is great too! I especially loved the lamb skewers — they’re huge, incredibly tender, and full of flavor! 😋🍢
