Oh my god. I love Chinese food and have eaten at many fine establishments but this place is on another level. Some of the best food I have ever eaten hands down and my family loves it too. For sure making this our regular go to. Recommend 10/10.

Does not follow instructions. The first time we ordered General Taos chicken we asked for non spicy and we received breaded chicken drenched in sweet and sour sauce (pink cherry sauce). This was maybe a month ago. That is not General Tao taste at all! So gross! We immediately went back and explained we would like a mild version of a traditional General Taos. They remade it and it was better. We went back today and said the same thing an order of mild General Taos and she literally remembered us and said she would make it the way we like. We should have checked before going home. We received another chicken dish which was covered in what seemed to be 3/4 sweet and sour sauce 1/4 General Taos flavour sauce. It barely tasted like General Taos as the sweet and sour sauce’s flavour was overwhelming. We often order mild general Taos from other Chinese restaurants and it’s delicious. This is so disappointing and we definitely will not be back.

Ordered Mapo Beancurd and it was so salty we couldn't eat it. We also ordered General Tso Chicken, the dough was soft not crispy and no chicken, mostly dough it was awful. Free fried rice was mushy! We gave them a chance before but we're not going back. It cost us $89 and we didn't enjoyed at all!

Decent Chinese Food around Barrhaven, Ottawa Last Friday, we tried China Star, a takeout-only spot, and overall had a pretty good experience. We ordered Shrimp Egg Foo Young, Crispy Beef, Singapore Noodles (both chicken and beef), Udon Noodles (both chicken and beef), and Shrimp Fried Rice. Everything was tasty and well-prepared.
The Shrimp Fried Rice was a little darker than what I’m used to, probably because of soy sauce or something similar, but it still tasted fine. Personally, I prefer it lighter in color, but that’s just my preference.
The rest of the dishes were solid as well, and everything had a good flavor. The prices came to around $92, which feels a bit high, but that seems to be the way things are these days.
Overall, China Star delivered a decent meal, and I can see why it’s a popular choice for takeout in the area. Nothing fancy, but definitely a reliable option if you're in the mood for Chinese

Not the best first experience with our take-out order. The cashier did not so much greet me, as kind of read out my order and brought it immediately to the counter. It's not a big deal since it was an hour and a half to closing, and I figured they had a long day.
We ordered general taos chicken, some egg rolls, and hot and sour soup. The chicken was quite good, and the egg rolls tasted alright but had an after taste of spent cooking oil, probably due to being a late night order.
The soup was an entirely different story. Opening the lid of the container, there was this awful sour smell to it. The colour of the soup was much darker than any other soups I've had before; like it had been sitting for far too long without being replenished. The tofu had steeped in it and was no longer milky white. I hazard a taste and was immediately put off. It was acrid. Threw it out immediately.
I can't recommend the soup, but the chicken was quite good.

Tried for first time tonight on recommendation of two friends. I now highly recommend. The veg in the dishes were fresh and perfectly stir fried, not soggy at all. Flavours were subtle and tasty. The portions were huge. The service was outstanding and accommodating. Spring rolls were big but just OK. Thanks for a great meal! We ordered: garlic spare ribs, veg chow mein and kung pau chicken.

Fantasic food! We had a couple combo plates, beef & broccoli, wonton soup, and fried wontons. My wife said it was probably the best beef & broccoli she's had yet in Ottawa. Everything was awesome in the combos and the chicken fried rice was perfect. Zero complaints and will order again soon. Would love to see a combo plate with General Tso chicken. 😋
